Orion Group Life Sciences are looking for an Associate Supply Chain for our Multinational Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology client based in Breda. Initial 12-month contract, with a high possibility of extension. This is a hybrid position.

What will you do


As junior Global Supply Planner you work on ensuring supplies for clinical studies that run global and mostly under the supervision of an experienced planner. You will be working on the largest and fast lane trials. After training and proven experience, you will be working independently on less complex studies. The planning team works to reach a minimum of 99,99% for patient dosing with decision making on the right inventory levels at central warehouses and hospitals. During the entire length of the clinical trial, the study planner is responsible to update the demand for the global patient portfolio for the assigned studies and monitor supply at all locations to minimize product waste.

Main Responsibilities of the role

  • Propose to translate study team requirements into an actionable global supply plan.
  • Help with detailing forecasting demand and demand patterns, including key stakeholder meetings, to ensure the adequacy of supply/re-supply strategies. Where necessary and actively participate in planning meetings to ensure that project needs, priorities, and timing are understood.
  • Serve as the secondary interface with clinical study team, Quality, and Regulatory Affairs to ensure coordination of all activities necessary to maintain the forecast and ensure an adequate supply plan.
  • Resolve logistical conflicts impacting studies and R&D milestones ensuring that supplies are not on the critical path.
  • Coordinate labeling, packaging, and shipment of labelled supplies.
  • Promptly identify and escalate risks to study timelines or clinical supplies, from a supply chain perspective to all key stakeholders and internal management.
  • Utilize systems to effectively manage key product/project activities.
  • Help understand clinical supply chain management processes and strategies to key stakeholders.
  • Review and update existing procedures and SOPs; identify the need for and assist in the establishment of new procedures and SOPs.
Required Qualifications and skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain or business administration and 6 months of relevant working experience.
  • Fluency in English, both in verbal and written communication3
  • Fluency in Dutch is preferred3
  • Experience of working in a fast paced complex supply chain environment.
  • Experience in MS Office applications.
  • Experience in Digitization.
  • Experience in using ERP systems, preferably SAP.
  • Experience with AI tools.
  • Able to work with Standard Operation Procedures in a highly regulated environment in a complex supply chain.
  • Able to be apply training into practice quickly.
  • Work Right First Time – 100% accurate output, even under stress and periods of high workload.
  • Independent decision making, when in doubt work with a direct peer to get the right advice.
  • Highly analytical, able to connect the dots between studies and multiple processes.
  • Communicate clearly with management, planners, Quality and labeling department.
  • Able to prioritize of work Able to work in cross functional, local and international teams.
  • Be critical to supplier and customer needs.
  • Balance between always ensuring supplies and the costs and effort it takes to make that happen.
  • Open for changes in processes, robotization and digitalization.
