Job description

Job Title: Instrumentation/Electrical Technician (High Voltage Electrical Technician)
Location: Houston Area, Texas (project radius up to 10 miles)


Role Overview:
The primary focus of this role is high-voltage electrical work (over 1,000 volts), including tasks involving motors exceeding one megawatt. Key responsibilities include operating and maintaining switchgear, performing grounding checks, and handling protective relays. This position requires knowledge of industrial equipment such as fluke meters and megohmmeters, as well as familiarity with both National and Local Electrical Codes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct high-voltage electrical work across multiple project sites.
  • Utilize switchgear, perform grounding checks, and handle protective relays.
  • Apply knowledge of industrial equipment, including fluke meters and megohmmeters.
  • Follow National and Local Electrical Codes to ensure compliance.

Job Characteristics:

  • Nature of Work: Field-based with project site responsibilities across the designated area.
  • Schedule: Aligns with industry standards, generally following a 5x10 or 5x12 schedule.

Requirements:

  • Experience with high-voltage systems.
  • Strong safety knowledge and understanding of electrical codes.
  • Required safety certifications and familiarity with high-voltage protective clothing.

Tools & Equipment:
The company provides necessary tools, including high-voltage safety equipment. Candidates must provide their own flame-resistant clothing and steel-toed boots.

Training:
Candidates will be required to complete training with the Houston Area Safety Council, covering both general safety protocols and role-specific requirements.
