The Principal Test Engineering Technician assists Test Engineers in the development of complex printed circuit board in-circuit test fixtures, as well as box and PC-based functional test equipment for electro-mechanical, hydro-pneumatic, optical sub-assemblies and systems.
Frequently working independently, the incumbent fabricates, duplicates, documents, updates, repairs and certifies new and existing production test equipment; provides design for manufacturability and design for test input on products and test equipment designs; and ensures that test fixtures and equipment are in compliance with regulatory and company standards.

Essential Behaviors and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Responsible for hands on maintenance, repair, calibration, and validation of new and existing test equipment
  • Responds to production line test equipment issues affecting output, yield, or end product quality
  • Identifies and provides enhancements to test equipment to support existing or new manufacturing operations
  • Under minimum supervision, will initiate or implement changes to existing test equipment to support improvements in cost, methods, quality, or to address material support/obsolescence issues. This includes test and validation activity and updating equipment documentation.
 
In this role, you will perform the following:
  • Construct test equipment
  • Interpret electrical and mechanical schematics
  • Reverse engineer mechanical fixturing
  • Service existing test equipment
  • Provide inputs for ongoing improvements for test equipment
  • Perform test equipment certification
