Orion Group Life Sciences is looking for a Strategic Sourcing Senior Specialist for our client in Amsterdam, a global supplier of paints, coatings, chemicals, optical products, glass and fibre optics. This is for an initial 6 month contract. This is a fully onsite position.
What will you do
The Sourcing Senior Specialist is responsible for strategically managing of all Business Services and Marketing sourcing related activities (Services & Products) – including negotiating agreements that optimize the total value for our client in compliance with established purchasing policies. They will be responsible for overseeing projects and supplier relationships. This role will support the execution of Global and European strategies, conduct RFPs, lead the selection of suppliers and monitor compliance.
Support to the Sourcing Managers in the Business Services & Marketing area will be part of the job scope. This will mean the assistance in data gathering, engagement and execution in European & Global projects. Responsibilities may also be European or Global in defined categories.
The Sourcing Senior Specialist plays a critical role developing and implementing projects, with a country or regional perspective, to strategically source the following areas:

- Marketing Services (Agencies, Media)
- Marketing Products (Colour Tools, Print, Promotional Items, POS/Shop Fixture).
Main Responsibilities
- Support Sourcing Managers in Business Services & Marketing in the strategy preparation and execution. Drive the implementation of strategy related projects.
- Provide support and direction for stakeholders and procurement team and where applicable drive and influence best practices.
- Prepare annual project planning to align the countries and region. Drive the implementation.
- Identify and implement solutions to ensure incremental cost reductions and cost avoidance opportunities through category knowledge by researching and understanding industry trends at the country and regional level.
- Work closely with the relevant teams in each country to assess, optimize and implement bid projects that align with functional team and other key functions strategic roadmap.
- Develop communication reviews with the main stakeholders, reviewing critical suppliers, upcoming projects and an understanding of the forward business needs.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders to understand requirements and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Utilize various purchasing electronic tools including spend management software to submit RFIs, RFPs, Dutch auctions and reverse auctions to strategically source suppliers.
- Continually evaluate supplier performance with a regional viewpoint to identify opportunities for cost savings and improvements. Configuring performance management of critical suppliers.
- Ensure purchasing function is carried out in an ethical and professional manner.
- Foster and utilize world class purchasing practices that comply with all Corporate Purchasing Policies of our client.
- 5+ years of prior purchasing, marketing, commercial or negotiations experience.
- Business Services & Marketing spend related experience.
- Bachelor's degree, relevant procurement qualifications or direct work experience in the field.
- Minimum two years of experience in Business Services/Marketing strategic sourcing and management.
- Minimum two years of experience in projects management.
- Proficiency with establishing contracts, monitoring performance and issue resolution.
- Ability to act with autonomy.
- Proactive, hands-on and results-oriented. Embraces getting the job done and is a finisher / completer.
- Structured in initiating and leading change through cross-functional teams.
- Ability to analyze data and to apply strategic frameworks for continual development.
- Strong purchasing and project leadership skills.
- Ability to use relevant tools to create reverse auctions and RFPs and manage vendor responses and bids to help maximize value.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of vendors, customers, or employees of the organization.
- Independent behaviour towards completing projects in an ethical manner.
- Comfortable with challenging and saying ‘no’.
- Proactive, hands-on and results-orientated. Strategic in foreseeing issues and challenges.
- Willing to travel 20% of the time.
- Professional Level of English and German.
