Overview:
A challenging and high-impact opportunity is available for a Senior Digital Project Engineer to lead the development and deployment of a cutting-edge Safety Barrier Degradation Monitoring Tool. This role will drive the technical, strategic, and tactical dimensions of a digital solution designed to enhance safety, integrity, and operational efficiency across complex offshore operations. The position sits at the intersection of engineering excellence, digital innovation, and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
  • Develop and update bow-tie diagrams including PFD values aligned with OREDA standards.
  • Deliver accurate impact assessments for field modifications and risk evaluations.
  • Lead integrity and major risks (IMR) assurance efforts and represent IMR during all impact assessment sessions.
  • Use tools such as Bowtie XP and DNV PHAST to perform risk and consequence analysis.
  • Chair key safety workshops (HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA) and conduct standalone integrity threat risk assessments.
Strategic Direction
  • Define and own the product vision, strategy, and stakeholder engagement plan.
  • Represent users and business in the agile digital project group, focusing on product value and user adoption.
  • Ensure product design aligns with UX/UI best practices and supports business transformation goals.
Tactical Delivery
  • Manage and deliver use cases in line with defined requirements and agile sprint timelines.
  • Foster collaboration across departments, external consultants, and tech partners.
  • Provide support to the Scrum Master and ensure efficient squad performance.
  • Report functionally to the business manager and line-report to the Head of Product Owners.
Role Context & Impact
This role is central to the development of a digital twin initiative supporting a highly complex offshore field. It directly contributes to reducing major risks, improving production efficiency, and aligning with national safety objectives. You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team within a larger Digital Project Group of approximately 30 people, with a significant budget and strategic importance.
  • Team Size: Squad of ~6 (internal staff, consultants, partners)
  • Collaborators: Operations, Engineering, Drilling, Logistics, HSEQ
  • Industry Visibility: Opportunities for participation in Joint Industry Projects (e.g., QP, TOTAL)
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Degree or Master's in Engineering (Chemical Engineering preferred)
  • Extensive experience in upstream oil & gas, including:
    • Prior work in Safety Engineering and technical integrity
    • Experience with integrity assurance tools and methodologies
  • Familiar with QRA, FERA, SECE, bowtie development (per IOGP standards)
  • Functional Safety certification and experience leading HAZOP studies
  • Working knowledge of agile methodologies and UX design principles
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
