The Opportunity
Our client is undergoing a phase of modernization and growth, and they're seeking a seasoned engineer to drive internal and external automation projects — from concept through to design, build, and commissioning. This role plays a crucial part in future-proofing operations across R&D, production, and logistics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end project execution for in-house automation and capital improvement initiatives.
- Manage outsourced design/build vendors including RFQs, scope, contracts, and performance.
- Assess existing systems and recommend technology upgrades focused on obsolescence, ease of use, and performance.
- Provide technical leadership and documentation throughout project lifecycles.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
- Degree in Engineering (B.S. minimum; M.S. preferred)
- 10+ years of project and equipment design experience within a manufacturing setting
- Strong working knowledge of:
- PLCs, HMIs (Allen Bradley preferred)
- Machine design and troubleshooting
- Vision inspection systems (e.g., Cognex)
- CAD software (Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD)
- Experience with robotics, continuous improvement, and lean manufacturing
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Willingness to travel occasionally (including international travel)
- Six Sigma or Lean certifications
- Stress analysis or CFD experience
- Strong project cost tracking and risk mitigation skills
