The Brief
Design, construct, and commission a 75,000m² Integrated Supply Base, including warehousing and storage solutions, in a new developing region. The key objectives were to:
- Develop a fully sustainable, Net Zero facility that aligns with the client’s environmental goals.
- Create an efficient and integrated supply chain that supports materials management, warehousing, and logistics, ensuring smooth operations from the start.
- Design a facility capable of handling over 35,000 SKUs and accommodating more than 5,000 pallet spaces, ensuring the infrastructure met both immediate and long-term operational needs.
- Ensure the project is delivered on time, within budget, and meets global safety and regulatory standards.
- Establish a best-in-class facility that supports the entire asset lifecycle for drilling, production, and operations in the region.
The Solution
OMM’s solution focused on delivering a comprehensive and integrated design for the supply base and warehouse, ensuring it met the client's sustainability goals while providing operational efficiency. Key elements of the solution included:
Integrated Design Concept:
- Developed an end-to-end supply chain design, integrating warehousing, materials management, and logistics to ensure smooth material flow and high operational efficiency.
- Designed a sustainable Net Zero facility, ensuring the supply base and warehouse operations were fully self-sufficient and aligned with the client’s environmental goals.
Collaborative Project Management:
- Managed the full scope of the project, including engineering studies, architectural design, construction, and commissioning, in close collaboration with the local service provider and key stakeholders.
- Overcame global supply chain constraints, ensuring that long-lead equipment was procured and delivered on time.
Optimised Facility Design:
- Created a facility layout that enhances safety, material process flows, and overall efficiency, capable of handling over 35,000 SKUs and 5,000 pallet spaces.
On-Time, On-Budget Delivery:
- Delivered the project on schedule and within budget, ensuring all aspects of the construction, safety, and operational requirements were met.
The Outcomes
By combining sustainable design principles, efficient project management, and an integrated approach to materials handling and logistics, OMM successfully delivered a state-of-the-art, Net Zero supply base and warehouse to support the client’s operations in the new region.
