Project Background

Networking events and general discussions got us talking to a client who had concerns regarding their ability to ensure they could recruit large scale numbers of skilled trades, office support and technical teams for forthcoming large projects. Once we discussed in depth their concerns, we agreed to work on a recruitment drive based on their requirements.

The Brief

The client had asked us to provide highly skilled trades operatives initially and if we could provide such in large numbers rising steadily throughout project progression. As the project moved forward, more technical disciplines would be required, and back-office support roles would be an additional requirement, so the client wanted to feel secure in the fact that Orion could support these requirements.

The Solution

We started a recruitment campaign using our web site, and dedicated job boards and social media, including open days both in country and in Europe, we shortlisted candidates who matched our clients’ requirements and put forward for review. We had by this stage gained the trust of our client that we could effectively set up and run a marketing campaign aligned to their requirements and deliver the service they required to ensure they met their project deadlines.

The Outcomes

The client achieved the large volumes of personnel required. At peak, we had supplied approximately 400 contractors (blue collar) and around 100 white collar workers supporting the project delivery, we sourced these personnel both in the UK and Europe mostly consisting of welders, fabricators, pipefitters, mechanical fitters and electricians who were seamlessly moved onto the project through our efficient cost-effective mobilisation procedures. For contractors from Europe, this included all immigration checks, trade testing and safety induction training in country prior to travelling to the UK, resulting in minimum disruption to their production and increasing their output to ensure project milestones were met.
