Project Background

Our client is a 5th generation family-owned, multinational company with 16 technology-intensive and state-of-the-art production facilities in 11 countries. As a world-leader in bespoke baghouse filtration and maintenance solutions across the USA and Europe, they recently underwent a senior leadership transition. With the appointment of a new Managing Director, the organisation sought to recruit an Environmental Services Director to oversee their baghouse maintenance and change-out operations. While traditional recruitment methods and internal networks were initially explored, these approaches did not yield suitable candidates. As a result, the client engaged Orion Partner Plus to conduct a retained search and deliver a curated pool of qualified applicants.

The Brief

The Director of Service oversees the management and strategic direction of the Service division for the organisation’s baghouse products and services across North America. This role includes ensuring seamless service execution and providing ongoing support to the product distribution network. Reporting directly to the President, the client sought candidates with expertise in Airflow studies and Industrial Ventilation systems who were also willing to relocate to Kentucky. Our objective was to deliver a pool of highly qualified and relocation-ready applicants to meet these specific requirements.

The Solution

Orion conducted a comprehensive “Kick-Off” call to gain a thorough understanding of the role’s technical requirements, associated benefits, and the key behavioural traits desired by the client. Together, we identified a targeted list of organizations to approach while also leveraging the Orion Filtration network. The project timeline was established, and a shortlist of candidates was successfully delivered within two weeks.

The Outcomes

The team initially identified a pool of 50 thoroughly vetted and qualified candidates. From this group, 5 applicants were submitted based on their strong technical skills and cultural alignment. In close collaboration with the client team, and following a rigorous evaluation process, 3 outstanding candidates advanced to the final panel interview stage. Ultimately, one candidate was selected and has since proven to be an excellent addition to the team.
