Welcome Maximillian Bromiley! We are excited to introduce Max Bromiley as the new Business Development Manager for our PartnerPlus division. Max brings a wealth of experience from the renewable energy and energy storage sectors, having previously led a successful Renewables Division in the U.S. His expertise in business development, coupled with a deep understanding of market trends and client needs, positions him perfectly to drive growth and innovation for PartnerPlus.

We got some time with Max to ask him a few questions about his career and insights, experiences, and plans.

Q: Can you tell us a bit about your background and what drew you to the field of business development, particularly in the renewable energy and Energy storage sectors?

A: After several years in the industrial sector, I was initially drawn to the carbon capture initiatives heavily invested in by Baker Hughes. This interest naturally transitioned into researching the renewable market. Subsequently, I was hired by a former employer to start a Renewables Division in the U.S., focusing on solar, wind, and hydrogen. In this role, I spearheaded business development efforts, forging key partnerships and driving market expansion. This experience eventually led me to energy storage systems, which I believe are the future. Energy storage will play a crucial role in renewable integration, grid stability and reliability, and cost savings, among other benefits.

Q: What excites you most about joining our company and leading the 'PartnerPlus' retained search division in the US market?

A: I was attracted by Orion's impressive track record in the oil & gas and renewable sectors, both of which I have experience in. Orion is a privately owned business with a global reach, a great family culture, and a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion. The company has a stellar reputation for prioritizing its clients and candidates while adding significant value. Partner Plus is an exciting value-added service for both existing and new clients. My experience has always been in retained search, and I seek companies that understand this methodology and recognise the value it brings to clients. Q: How do you see the current landscape of the renewable energy and battery storage sectors evolving in the next few years, and what opportunities do you foresee for our clients?

A; The renewable energy and battery storage sectors are set for significant growth. Increasing adoption driven by supportive policies and corporate commitments will expand opportunities. Technological advancements, such as improved efficiency and innovative solutions like floating solar farms, will drive further development. In battery storage, cost reductions and advancements in technology will enhance grid stability and integration with renewable sources. Clients can capitalise on these trends by investing in renewable projects, adopting energy storage solutions for cost savings and reliability, and forming strategic partnerships to drive innovation and sustainability. The future holds immense potential for those embracing these evolving sectors.

Q: What strategies do you plan to implement to effectively promote 'PartnerPlus' to potential clients in these rapidly growing industries?

A: My strategy is always to listen to current and existing clients' needs and challenges, and to tailor our service offerings, such as Partner Plus, to assist them with talent attraction and retention within the sector. Partner Plus enables Orion to utilize its full resources. A client can retain Orion and leverage our capabilities to address their attraction challenges comprehensively. I aim to build relationships, provide transparency to our clients, and consult with them on how Partner Plus can address current or upcoming obstacles. In a talent-driven market, clients require the best available solutions. Orion and Partner Plus offer the highest level of service needed in this challenging market.

Q: Can you share a success story from your past experience that highlights your approach to business development and client relationship management?

In Business Development, I focus on understanding the market and clients, and I believe in transparent communication to build trust. When I started a Renewable Energy division in the U.S. from scratch, it posed challenges as we had no existing network or clients in the area. My strategy was straightforward: I networked extensively and recruited top industry talent. Solar energy was a burgeoning sector, and by learning from recruited executives about industry trends and challenges, I could match their expertise with client needs. For instance, a prominent Utility company sought a Solar Development Director. Leveraging my network and research, I quickly identified suitable candidates and streamlined the recruitment process, reducing the shortlist time from 6 to 3 weeks. This efficient approach led to the successful placement of a long-term hire, cementing a strong client relationship and future collaborations.

Q: What challenges do you anticipate in promoting our retained search services to new clients, and how do you plan to overcome them?

The challenge lies in clients not fully understanding the advantages of Partner Plus over conventional contingency methods. Partner Plus enables us to conduct talent mapping, identify, and thoroughly qualify candidates. This approach allows Orion and the client not only to attract the right skillset and seniority for the position but also to ensure retention by aligning candidate values with those of our clients. I anticipate the need to advise clients on attraction, retention, employee branding, and ensuring cultural fit to enhance performance. Many clients are accustomed to engaging with multiple contingency search agencies for one position, which can harm employee branding and compromise quality due to competition-driven agility over quality. This approach often burdens internal TA, HR, and hiring managers with managing multiple agencies. Partner Plus aims to enhance efficiency, improve quality, increase retention rates, streamline processes for both clients and candidates, and safeguard client employee branding.

Q: In your view, what sets 'PartnerPlus' apart from other retained search services, and how will you communicate these unique advantages to prospective clients?

Partner Plus is a unique retained service offering several advantages over other market offerings. It allows us to tailor our services bespoke to each client's needs. Unlike many retained services that follow rigid processes, Partner Plus offers flexibility tailored to the search demands and client preferences. Our consultants deeply explore the company, its values, culture, and the required skillset at any seniority level. Partner Plus injects discretion, agility, and thorough diligence into client searches, distinguishing between 'good' and 'great' to meet objectives effectively. I plan to leverage my expertise and network by prioritising the cultivation of trust and understanding with key stakeholders in the renewables and energy storage markets. By thoroughly grasping their specific needs and challenges, I aim to provide tailored solutions such as Partner Plus that directly support their strategic objectives. Transparency and open communication will be central to nurturing strong relationships, ensuring stakeholders feel valued and respected. Remaining informed about industry trends and innovations will allow me to offer informed insights and guidance, positioning myself as a reliable advisor.
