Job Title: Completions Engineer

Job Summary: The Completions Engineer (CE) is responsible for the design, planning, and execution of completions, workovers, and interventions that meet business objectives, comply with local regulations, and adhere to internal practices. As an independent practitioner, the CE applies in-depth subject knowledge and plays a key role in multi-disciplinary team planning for well projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate across functions to design and execute safe, compliant, and efficient well completions, workovers, and interventions.
  • Ensure well control and process safety risks are identified and managed during design and operations.
  • Provide technical guidance and problem-solving during project execution.
  • Share lessons learned, best practices, and operational efficiencies across projects.
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers.
  • Contribute to risk assessments and manage deviations from standard practices.
  • Support completions planning according to the Well Delivery and Well Activity Workflow.
  • Develop accurate time and cost estimates for projects.
  • Author and update well-specific Statements of Requirements (SoR) and support Management of Change (MoC) processes as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with technical and functional specifications for tubulars, equipment, and sandface completions.
  • Recommend and document procedures for completions, surface and subsea trees.
  • Provide on-site operational support when needed.
  • Ensure proper project closure, including documentation and handover to production teams.
  • Work within integrated facility operations, coordinating Simultaneous Operations (SIMOPs) planning and execution.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree (or higher) in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical, Chemical, or Petroleum Engineering.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in completions, workovers, and interventions engineering, with exposure to subsea completions.
  • Valid Well Control Certification.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in deepwater operations in the Gulf of Mexico (GoM).
  • Knowledge of sand control completions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience working across multiple functions (Engineering, Operations, Finance, PSCM, and Regulatory).
  • Ability to challenge conventional thinking and drive innovation.
  • Experience with production operations and flow assurance challenges.
  • Familiarity with supplier management and issue resolution with Finance and PSCM.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute completion designs with a strong focus on health, safety, security, and environment (HSSE) standards.
  • Prepare completions programs and ensure timely and risk-assessed program amendments.
  • Work closely with resource teams, geologists, and service company personnel for operational efficiency.
  • Monitor all phases of completions operations and implement post-analysis learnings.
  • Provide on-site support for critical operations and ensure appropriate project assurance.
  • Coach and develop less experienced engineers.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and submit reports to relevant bodies.

Work Environment:

  • Houston-based role with a minimum of three days per week in the office.
  • Agile framework with multi-disciplinary, cross-functional teams.
