Job description

We have a current opportunity for a Construction Field Lead on a contract basis. The position will be based in Fort Saskatchewan, AB.  As the Construction Lead, you’ll play a pivotal role and member of the Assess team in providing the essential support projects through the project lifecycle for all the projects following our clients PDP processes.  
 
Position Description includes:
 
Assess Phase
  • Based on scope and at the request of the PDE, will become a member of the Assess Team.
  • Assess Team participation supports early input into key project development and execution strategies
  • Aids in the identification of additional options
  • Participates in the development of the preliminary schedule milestones
  • Participates in the development of the preliminary estimate with the Planning Supervisor
  • Provides input on the Business Justification and Project Premise
  • Participates in the Assess OF phase as required accordingly
  • Participates in the Assess OE phase accordingly
Select Phase
  • Participates in the Select Kick Off Meeting to gain further understanding of the project deliverables, the business justification and to review/provide input into the select phase package
  • Participates in the development of the Competitive scoping report
  • Is included in the concept selection review and approval
  • Participates in the Refine selection solution
  • Has input into the Level 2 Gantt chart and level 3 schedule development
  • Participates in the “Plan for Next Phase” activities with primary focus on providing input into the Project Execution Plan (PEP). The PEP provides the framework for sequence of events and an overview of the full scope execution (design, procurement, construction, and quality assurance activities).
  • Supports the development of the project risk register assessing impact and mitigations
  • Has input with the PM and C&P into developing the contracting / procurement strategies
  • Construction Supervisor to attend or assign a Field lead to attend the Constructability review 1
  • Construction Supervisor / field lead to have input into the AWP screening process.
Define Phase
  • Participate in secure resources with the PM as per the PEP
  • Attend define kick off meeting as a key project team member
  • Have input into the complete technical definition as a team member
  • Have input into or assign the filed lead to prepare for project execution and complete define phase package (PDP D-11)
  • Accountable with the PE for the development of a Level 3 Project Schedule and the development of the Type 3 (typically +/- 10%) Cost Estimate
  • Participate in the refining of the PEP with the assigned field lead - MTAC CMT (PDP TD-6)
  • Have input into the update of the procurement plan (PDP D-TD9)
  • As required participate with the assigned field lead in the refine resource plan and completion of the constrained path of construction
  • Supervisor to Participate, review and sign off acceptance of the constructability 2 (CR-2)
  Execute Phase
  • As part of the project team have input into complete procurement
  • Review and provide input to the PE on the Issued for Approval documentation/package
  • Communicate the construction plan and schedule to the routine planner / supervisor (Maintenance Interface)
  • The construction supervisor with the PE and Project team will Select suppliers, evaluate and select field contractors
  • The construction supervisor and assigned members to the CMT for the project will participate in any 3D 30%, 60%, 90% model reviews as well as remaining constructability reviews as determined by the construction supervisor
  • The construction supervisor and assigned CMT with the PM are responsible for the Execution C phase in the PDP
  • The MTAC construction supervisor and assigned CMT members will attend capture Lessons learned throughout the execution of the project as well as participate in any look back at the end of the project.
 Required:
  • 10+ years of experience in piping construction experience as a Lead Construction Coordinator with Major Projects in oil and gas projects is required
  • Bachelor's degree or technical field including Journeyman qualifications and PMP certifications are preferred
  • Your background and experience will be from Oil and Gas / Energy
  • You will be required to hit the ground running so experience is key
  • Proficient in all Microsoft office including Primavera scheduling software, SAP, Excel and Gantt Charts
  • Other construction industry software will be regarded.
  • Willing to accept D&A tests as required
  • Valid Driver license
  • Able to reside local to Edmonton / Fort Saskatchewan Area for daily on-site project work
  • Legally permitted (current) to work in Canada
