Position: Control Room Lead Engineer
Location: Kampala + sites
Duration: 18+ months
Status: Rotational
Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced Control Room Leader to oversee and guide Control Room Operators (CROs) in a large-scale industrial oil production project. This position is a key role in leading and training new Ugandan CROs and ensuring efficient operations.

- Provide direct training, assessment, and mentoring for CRO trainees at various training facilities (e.g., UPIK and company sites).
- Develop and review CRO job descriptions and training programs.
- Participate in the Alarm Management review process and provide input on HMI screen layouts and system development with Schneider.
- Contribute to C&E chart reviews, P&ID mark-ups, and ICSS FAT testing at Schneider’s facility in Chennai, India.
- Assist in Operational Training Simulator (OTS) development and assessment of CROs.
- Lead CRO trainees in commissioning activities at the site.
- Develop CRO Reflex Cards for different phases such as Start-up, Preservation, and Shutdown.
- Assist in the development of wells control systems, emergency response layouts, and standing procedures.
- Provide input into e-PTW (electronic Permit to Work) system and other operational safety processes.
- Supervise and mentor CROs during routine operations, shutdowns, and emergency responses.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed and appropriate actions are taken during emergencies.
- Monitor daily production, injection targets, and environmental goals.
- Ensure proper record-keeping in CCR logbooks and effective communication among the team.
- Coordinate with Production Supervisors for smooth execution of operations and maintenance tasks.
- Manage and optimise chemical injection targets to ensure operational efficiency.
- Minimum 8 years of practical experience in Production Operations (onshore or offshore).
- Previous experience as a Control Room Operator (CRO) or Control Room Leader.
- Strong technical expertise in process control and plant monitoring systems.
- English language proficiency (spoken and written).
- The role requires frequent travel during the project phase (UPIK training center, Schneider facility in India, and Company sites).
- The oilfields are located in environmentally sensitive areas, requiring strict adherence to safety and operational regulations.
