YOU MUST HAVE A MACHINE/ MACHINIST BACKGROUND.


As a Craft Technician (Machinist/Millwright), you will be responsible for maintaining and overhauling process, utilities, and marine equipment in the Central Workshop. Ensures a safe, clean, and organized work environment. Potential to oversee Maintenance Contractors and collaborate with Field Craft Technicians. During projects, you will support Site Construction Team in quality assurance activities related to rotating equipment installation, cleanliness, preservation, and CSI-J activities, overseeing the entire process from foundation installation to equipment commissioning.



To be successful, you will have:

  • At least 5 years' experience in the Machinist trade
  • Journey Person with Red Seal qualification
  • Experience machining of tight tolerance parts in a variety of materials on both manual engine lathe as well as milling machine.
  • CNC Programing or CNC operating experience would be an asset (Fanuc, Siemens controls)
  • Experience with horizontal or vertical Boring mills.
  • Millwright/ Industrial Mechanic experience.
  • Experience balancing of rotating assemblies.
  • Experience coaching/mentoring apprentices
  • Manual handling and rigging experience.
  • Both fluent and articulate in English
  • Have a Valid Driver's license.

This role requires that you:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada (i.e., by way of Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work permit)
  • Know that this role is based in Kitimat, BC.   • Relocate to Kitimat/Terrace, BC
  • Know that this is not a fly-in, fly-out rotation role.



During Operation:

  • 5 days-40 hours a week with potential for overtime in some circumstances.
  • Know that during Campaign Maintenance and Turnaround events additional effort including longer hours and shift work could be required.
  • Are willing to work outdoors, during inclement weather, in all seasons, including heavy snowfall and periods of heavy rain.
  • Able to climb ladders and stairs, work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Able to work wearing a respirator or Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA)
  • Are willing to comply with drug-free and harassment-free work environment and comply with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Undergo a pre-placement medical assessment of your fitness for duty, a background check and Pre-Site Access testing for alcohol and drugs.

You will use your expertise to:


During Operate (run and maintain) Phase:

  • The Craft Technician (Machinist/Millwright) will be part of the site Mechanical Team responsible for the safe and efficient execution of Rotating Equipment overhauls on (pumps, compressors, expanders, fans, blowers, louvers, valves, etc.) in the Central Workshop.
  • Support site continuous improvement both in terms of efficiency but also digitalization initiatives and opportunities to drive best in class performance.
  • Drive best in class performance by embracing a learner mindset to become a digitally enabled technician of the future leveraging technology.
  • During operate individuals will be required to analyze data through different tools and lenses and be able to work with remote office staff to solve various complex issues within their field of expertise. Everyone must be fully committed to become an expert in their field enabling quick decision making with fit for purpose and cost-effective solutions.
  • Support turnaround and major maintenance teams as required to provide site expertise and shop support during pre-work phases and execution.
  • Act as mentors for both operations teams and apprentices to share knowledge and experience to better enable efficiency and best in class performance.
  • Champion the strategy of lean and continuous Improvement within the discipline for effectiveness and efficiency
  • Be willing to cross train in skills to become a technician of the future utilizing Al, robotics, and data to become a digitally enabled worker.
  • Effective collaboration skills, "team player" attitude, and learner mindset will be essential personal attributes to contribute to a high performing multi discipline maintenance organization.
  • Assist and support other trades.


Potential During Project Execute Phase (module fabrication, pre-commissioning, commissioning, start up, ramp up):

  • Support asset team as "boots on the ground" to support a quality Preventative and
  • Corrective Maintenance plan, providing feedback to CMMS team on hours, steps, and equipment history.
  • Support writing equipment practices, procedures and guidelines based on site experience.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor and site construction team to display and promote a learner mindset.
  • Find opportunities for digitalization vs. the way we have always done it, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and future proofing our business.
  • Support connected worker and augmented worker vision.
