Job Description

A vacancy has arisen within Portfolio and Support, Engineering Delivery, for a Draughtsperson with a control and instrumentation discipline.

The purpose of the post is to provide draughting support to the Engineers. The successful job holder will be responsible for delivering drawings and support to projects.

We are looking for someone to join our team in the Design Office who has trade background in Electrical or Control & Instrumentation disciplines and an understanding of the Engineering and Design requirements, with demonstrable knowledge of the governance requirements for both.

Main Responsibilities

The Job Holder will:

  • Produce design drawings in compliance with the relevant regulations

  • Assist with the generation of design documentation and specifications

  • Provide solutions to specific design problems

  • Assist Senior Draughtsperson to resolve technical queries

  • Perform the responsibilities of Management Appointments relevant to post

Attributes and Experience

  • HNC in Engineering or equivalent qualification plus experience in the draughting/design field

  • Membership of an appropriate professional body would be advantageous

  • Able to read, understand and produce engineering drawings, carry out site surveys, depending upon discipline

  • Knowledge of the design process, drawing process and drawing standards

  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD for 2D draughting, AutoCAD electrical knowledge would be advantageous

  • Technical experience gained within an engineering environment and an awareness of project management

  • A sound understanding of safety requirements

  • Good interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
