Job description
Orion Group Life Sciences are looking for an Engineer (electrical/mechanical and/or automation) for our Multinational Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology client based in Breda. Initial 12-month contract, with high possibility of extension. This is a fully onsite position.
Role Summary
The Facilities and Engineering department is responsible for utilities engineering and asset life cycle management for the Breda site. Day to day maintenance of their systems is outsourced to an integrated service provider. In the role of engineer (system owner) you work in a small, dedicated team of engineers and you will get the opportunity to work with complex utility systems. You will receive specific on the job training, coaching and you will be part of projects for the design and installation of new systems and assets or the replacement of assets to make the Breda site ready for the anticipated future growth and expansion.
Main Responsibilities of the role
- Participate and assure that projects are delivered in time, within budget and meet the required quality.
- Management of the technical scope, from conceptual design, detailed design to execution and commissioning.
- Engagement with contractors during initial design stage, request for proposal, execution of work.
- Contractor supervision and safety management during the execution phase of project.
- Compliance to applicable codes, practices, validation and commissioning policies, performance standards and specifications.
- Document control.
- Duties:
- Co-ordination of upgrading and/or installation activities at the Breda site. Varying between pharmaceutical packaging lines, HVAC, utilities or warehouse systems. These activities will contain keeping hands-on oversight of project activities during the installation and commissioning phase.
- Assist in the development of cost estimates.
- Review plans and other technical documents.
- Answer questions regarding the scope and/or timing of the project.
- Monitor costs and project progress.
- Maintain control of all project documentation.
- Create, manage and track RFQ's in corporation with project lead.
- Maintain/update project records.
- Assist the project manager in creating and distributing the project schedule.
- Assist project team with conflict resolution between owner, contractor and subcontractor.
- Turn in submittals from subcontractors to A/E for approval by system owners.
- Assist project manager in getting building permits for the project.
- Understand appropriate (building) codes/ regulations.
- Participate and document weekly project owner's meetings/decisions.
- Assist the project team with site safety documentation and coordination.
- Assist the project team with closeout of the project.
- Assist project manager with assigned tasks.
- Create work permits.
- Contractor safety management.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering, science or related technological field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Electrical background and some experience in working on low voltage electrical installations and systems (NEN 3140).
- Some knowledge of utilities and building management equipment (HVAC, sprinkler installations, and/or warehouse storage systems).
- Availability to be assigned to duty call service (24/7) (1 or 2 times per month).
- Direct experience with regulated environment (GXP).
- Familiar with project management techniques and managing relationships.
- Relevant work experience in operations /manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of (personal) computer software, specifically: CMMS, ERP (preferably SAP), MS office.
- Experience in working with different departments and key stake holders in the organization.
- Familiarity with validation processes and protocols including FAT/SAT/SIT, etc...
- Experience with building automation and process automation.
- Fluent in English and Dutch, both in oral and written communication.
