Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled Gravity-Based Structures (GBS) Transport and Installation Engineer to join our client for a major offshore wind farm project. Based in London, you will play a key role in the engineering and execution of transportation and installation (T&I) activities for gravity-based structures, ensuring adherence to technical standards, project timelines, and environmental compliance.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to one of the most significant renewable energy projects in Europe, working with a leading joint venture driving the energy transition.

This is a contract position. Minimum 12 months.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Transport and Installation Strategy:
    • Develop, review, and optimize transport and installation methodologies for gravity-based foundations.
    • Assess and mitigate risks associated with offshore operations, including marine and seabed conditions.
  2. Engineering Coordination:
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including structural, geotechnical, and marine engineers, to ensure integrated solutions.
    • Provide technical input for the design and analysis of lifting, towing, and positioning operations.
  3. Project Execution Support:
    • Oversee contractors during GBS transportation and installation activities, ensuring compliance with project requirements and HSE standards.
    • Monitor offshore operations and provide on-site technical guidance as needed.
  4. Contract and Documentation Management:
    • Prepare and review tender documentation, technical specifications, and scopes of work for T&I contractors.
    • Ensure all operations are aligned with relevant industry standards (e.g., DNV, API).
  5. Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Act as a key liaison between project owners, contractors, marine warranty surveyors, and regulatory bodies.
    • Attend regular project progress meetings and provide updates to senior management.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Educational Background:
    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Marine, Offshore, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Professional Experience:
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in offshore transport and installation projects, with a focus on gravity-based structures or similar.
    • Proven expertise in offshore wind projects or large-scale marine construction projects.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in marine operations planning, vessel mobilization, and subsea installation techniques.
    • Strong understanding of offshore logistics, hydrodynamic forces, and geotechnical considerations.
  • Certifications and Standards:
    • Familiarity with international standards such as DNV-ST-N001, API RP 2A-WSD, and ISO 19901.
    • Valid offshore survival and medical certifications (e.g., BOSIET, HUET) preferred.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities in high-pressure environments.
    • Strong communication and leadership skills, with experience managing contractors and teams.
