HR Specialist
12-Month initial contract
M-F 7am-4pm
Hybrid/3 days onsite-2 days remote

Orion Group is hiring for an HR Specialist position that will report directly to the LATAM HR Ops Lead, working closely with the HR team, collaborating to review our current local HR processes supported by HR Operations, educating our internal stakeholders on HR solutions and Portal.
The HR Specialist is responsible for routine employee inquiries related to the HR matters such as vacation requests, salary payments, payslip clarification, benefits inquiries, and HR Portal access. You will also provide employee self-service and manager self-service support when necessary.
The HR Specialist will work close to local LATAM HR, processing employees' salary changes in Workday, leaves of absence, hires, and terminations. This role is responsible for managing and controlling HR policies related to the HR Operations area as well as any document updates.
Responsibilities include employee (customer) coverage – e-mail (primarily), chats, and phone (least volume utilized), processing all Workday transactions for assigned countries and country-specific projects, and process reviews to enhance and leverage the HR Portal usage and adoption.
Requirements include previous experience in HR area at least 1–2-year [mandatory], strong working knowledge of Workday, stakeholder management skills, good customer survey feedback and strong language skills, both verbal and written, Spanish, Portuguese, and English to support Spanish countries.
Key Responsibilities Include:
• Open and manage ticket/ cases using a specific HR platform [Sales Force/ Service Now]
• Answers general questions and redirects misplaced calls
• Leverages procedures, policy manuals, knowledge databases, other reference materials, etc. to answer employee and manager inquiries and resolving employee and manager HR transactions
• Guides HR Employee Self-Service and Manager Self-Service transactions
• Executes select HR related transactions (e.g., data changes) or appropriately escalates issues as needed
• Work with Payroll team to guarantee employees and HR request will be processed on time and paid as part of the payroll on cycle.
• Inputs data into HR platform - Workday to transact on customer requests
• Documents all employee inquiries, issues, and transactions in case management [Sales Force/ Service Now] tools as required
• Participates in continuous improvement workshops and projects as requested
• Participates in South Region ad hoc projects as required
Qualifications Needed:
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Specific language skills requirement – Spanish and English
• Strong communication skills – writing and speaking.
• Minimum of 1-2 years professional experience in HR [Payroll, Talent Acquisition, HR Administration, Benefits, etc];
• Familiar with HR service and processes as well as HRIS tools and systems
• Able to navigate computerized data entry systems and other relevant applications
• Able to follow standard procedures and processes
• Able to escalate issues timely to the right group
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive informationere
