Job description


Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Lead Structural Engineer, based in Aberdeen.

Responsibilities:
* Preparation of derogations to Technical Referential for review and approval by Group Product Line structural specialists..
* Assisting Field Operations in defining and implementing interim risk reduction measures and permanent solutions, to reduce the risk associated with identified SECE failures, integrity threats and downgraded situations relating to their engineering discipline.
* When requested, provide discipline input to Root Cause Analysis, defect reviews, equipment reliability to improve overall Asset uptime.
* Active engagement in discipline work, promote cross Asset knowledge transfer and annual offshore visits to support delivery of the business objectives.
* Acting as a discipline focal point for projects and modifications when called upon by Projects, Assets and/or Strategy & Business.
* For significant and/or high risk modifications support with Engineering Queries/Change Notices that have a technical discipline impact on the design and construction of a modification or project.
* Appraising the status and outcome of assurance activities to ensure that the Performance Standards are being attained.
* Agreeing with the Independent Verification Body (IVB) actions plans for close out of findings.
* Maintaining an up to date awareness of the innovations and developments in their discipline and applying where there is a justified safety or production cost benefit.
* Reviewing discipline documentation for an engineering change / modification and ensuring that key deliverables reflect the as-built status.
* Completing engineering review of design limits for (or changes to) equipment components proposed by Asset Engineers.
* Undertake remaining life assessments for equipment components for subsequent approval by the Structural TA.
* Prepare spare parts strategy (including obsolescence) for equipment components on behalf of the assets.
* Develop technical Scopes of Work and execute and manage any Call For Tender(s) in conjunction with Contract and Procurement DUET for award of new or renewal of support contracts or service orders contracts.
* Provide budget forecast for scopes and projects and actively monitor expenditure within area of responsibility.
* Provide cost forecasts to Cost Control team when required.


Requirements
* Relevant degree within discipline and preferable chartered engineer.
* Previous experience within the upstream Oil & Gas Industry.
* Technical skills enabling the individual to work both supervised and independently within discipline.
* Has an ability to identify, develop sound and innovative technical solution.
* Knowledge of associated technical/engineering disciplines.
* Familiar with UK industry regulations relating to the Oil & Gas Industry.
* Good relationship-builder at all levels, internally and externally.
* Effective communicator both written and verbal
