Job description

Scientist II - Ligand Binding Assay (LBA) & Biomarker development
1+ year renewable contract
Worcester, MA
Hourly Pay Rate: $47-50/hr

The Biomarker team of Quantitative Translational ADME Science (QTAS) is seeking for a creative, experienced, and highly motivated scientist to develop bioanalytical biomarker methods and analyze preclinical/clinical samples to support the discovery and development of novel therapies in multiple therapeutic areas.

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in a variety of technologies, including but not limited to ligand binding assays (LBA), quantitative PCR, pre-analytics (sample processing steps), etc. He/she will be a key member of a global biomarker bioanalysis team supporting all therapeutic areas with fit-for-purpose methods to enable discovery and development stage decision-making.

Responsibilities
* Develop, validate, transfer, and troubleshoot robust ligand binding biomarker assays on multiple analytical platforms across a variety of sample matrices with supervision.
* Conduct, present and document appropriately compliant biomarker sample testing to support non-clinical and clinical studies.
* Develop effective partnerships with discovery, preclinical safety, clinical pharmacology, and project team representatives in a highly collaborative and innovative environment to deliver high-impact and quality data in a timely manner.
* Evaluate novel, pipeline-enabling, assay technologies to expand capabilities and enhance efficiency.
* Maintain laboratory notebooks in compliance with company policies.
* Strong organization and communication skills, attention to detail, critical thinking, independent, multitasking, desire to learn new techniques and contribute to cutting-edge projects.

Qualifications
* A minimum of 5 years of experience for people who have a bachelor's degree in molecular biology, Biochemistry, or other related fields, or 2-3 years of experience for people who have a Master's degree in related fields.
* Working knowledge of LBA (ELISA, MSD, etc.) biomarker bioanalytical assay development, validation, and sample testing workflows to comply with current regulatory standards and best industry practices.
* Working knowledge in Molecular Biology, especially in DNA/RNA purification and quantitative PCR (qPCR), digital PCR, etc.
* Excellent communication skills, and proven ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
* Demonstrated capacity to work in a fast-paced environment with meticulous attention to detail, and an ability to handle multiple projects, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
* Working knowledge of Watson LIMS system is a plus.
