Job description
We have a current opportunity for a Onshore Consent Advisor on a contract basis. The position will be based in Edinburgh with the option for remote working.
Applicants must have the right to work in the UK on a full time basis.
This role will be a critical delivery role to deliver the necessary development consents for the onshore aspects of the project. This role will report to the Project Consent Lead working alongside the Project DCO Lead and Onshore Consent Manager and is expected to focus on managing a range of EIA topics identified by the Project Consent Lead alongside procedural compliance as the application is drafted and secured.
Candidates with experience of DCO applications, linear development projects and/or renewable energy projects are preferred.

Key responsibilities:
- Responsible for managing a range of onshore environmental topics through the site selection PEIR, EIA and DCO application processes
- Responsible for ensuring adequate recording of site selection and project design decisions as they relate to site selection and consideration of alternatives
- Managing external consultants including ensuring appropriate scopes of works, budgets and schedule
- Managing and reviewing the deliverables of the onshore consultants in the responsible areas ensuring interfaces with other topics are adequately managed
- Responsible for stakeholder engagement in relevant EIA topics
- Ensure strong cooperation within the Project for relevant onshore packages in relation to risk and deliverables
- Working closely with other Onshore Consent Manager to ensure continuity of approach and management of interfaces between EIA topics
- Close coordination with the Offshore Lead, Land Manager and Commercial Development Manager as required by the Project Consent Lead
- Responsible for identifying and communicating consenting and wider project risks as they become known to the Project Consent Lead.
Key tasks
- Drive onshore site selection and route refinement in close liaison with the Land Manager and wider project team including supporting with community and landowner engagement as required by the Land Manger and Project Consent Lead
- Manage and deliver the Technical Engagement Plans in conjunction with consultants with stakeholders in respect of environmental topic areas
- Deliver Examination Strategy, Statements of Common Ground as well as written and oral answers to the Examining Authority
- In conjunction with others, deliver buildable consent of the onshore elements of the project on time and to budget according to the programme
- Input to and influence examination strategy in relevant EIA areas to minimise risk in line with the Project’s expectations
- Manage consenting risk including clear and proactive communication of risk to the Project Consent Lead and wider project team to prevent consenting issues in the project and flag potential risks;
- Lead external onshore stakeholder engagement in relevant EIA topic areas. Manage and perform high level stakeholder engagement with key stakeholders on relevant project issues via consultants resulting in final Statements of Common Ground
- Identify and feed back to the Consent Manger project lessons learned
- Provide expert advice on onshore consent and environmental project issues to maximise competitiveness to the project packages
- Support Land Manager to secure access to survey works and landowner liaison
