Job description

SUMMARY: Lead salesperson for Kansas/Missouri/Nebraska. Selling production area fire protection (detection and extinguishment) equipment solutions to business and industrial establishments. Manages and expands business relationships with targeted prospects.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct sales calls to customers offices or manufacturing plants.
  • Makes outbound lead follows-up calls to potential and existing customers by telephone and e-mail to qualify leads and sell products and services.
  • Handles inbound sales lead calls to convert calls into sales.
  • Develops customer relations including but not limited to sales leads, cold calling, qualifying leads, developing leads, and customer service.
  • Meet or exceed territory sales goals.
  • Maintains and develops client relations for new and larger established existing customers, assuring all existing customers are contacted regularly to ensure customer satisfaction and develop need-based marketing relations.
  • Overcomes technical and business objections of prospective customers.
  • Provides product demos to qualified customers on request.
  • Emphasizes salable features, quotes prices and credit terms, and prepares sales orders for orders obtained.
  • Estimates date of delivery to customer, based on knowledge of own firm's production and delivery schedules.
  • Coordinates customer training.
  • Builds and maintains customers' relationships.
  • Prepares reports of business transactions.
  • Enters new customer data and other sales data for current customers into computer database.
  • Attends conventions, conferences, and trade shows as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Overnight travel up to 50%.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university, engineering or technical degree a plus
  • A track record of success in solution selling to industrial customers
  • Experience with dust collection or air quality/filtration equipment a plus, or experience working and understanding the operations within the wood products or panel industry.
  • Experience in wood products industry or a wood science background also a plus.
  • 5 years of outside selling experience

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Frequently required to stand.
  • Frequently required to drive multiple hours in a day.
  • Frequently required to sit and work in office environment and on a computer.
  • Required to communicate via direct meetings, over the phone or electronically with employees and customers.
  • Occasionally required to lift/push/carry items including sales materials, parts and trade show items up to 40 pounds.
