Job description

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate renewable energy project assessments for development of brownfield and greenfield renewable energy projects (wind, solar, hydro, biogas, geothermal).
  • Coordinate feasibility studies, power purchase agreement drafting and other activities with cross functional resources, peers, and external consultants
  • Work with transmission operators to manage interconnection studies, load flow analyses.
  • Coordinate all issues surrounding land acquisition, working with government agencies to negotiate land rights acquisition with private and public landowners and address land use issues.
  • Ability to coordinate design of wind and solar farm layouts, taking into account technical parameters, existing conditions and infrastructure.
  • Manage the day-to-day project development process to move projects from greenfield development to commercial, pre-construction stage.
  • Interface with JV partners, client organizations and suppliers as necessary.
  • Ensure that timelines and budgets for the Company's development projects are effectively managed.
  • Manage the permitting/licensing process including defining, applying for and managing government and local environmental, construction, and related permits and support of community interfaces.
  • Ensures that projects stay on track, including all related project environmental and permitting activities.
  • Keep up-to-date with changes in respective legislation, feed-in tariff regulations, permitting and power purchase agreement requirements.
  • Keep up-to-date with renewable energy market participants both local and international.
  • Constantly screen market for new opportunities to develop feasible renewable energy projects.
  • Be up-to-date with energy market dynamics including neighboring countries.
  • Ability to travel to project development sites for site assessment and surveying missions as necessary.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a project engineer/project management position, preferably in the solar renewable energy projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, advanced degree, with previous experience in energy development and an understanding of deregulated electric markets a plus.
  • MBA is preferred not essential.
  • Prior experience working on project licensing and permitting.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills; the ability to develop clear and concise development plans and presentations covering project status, timeline, risk assessment, and budget needs and performance.
  • Understanding of local community dynamics, with the ability to negotiate effectively with landowners, permitting authorities, utilities, and other stakeholders.
  • Understanding of budgeting, and contract implementation.
  • Understanding of electricity market dynamics, trading, transit and energy business.
  • Past international exposure to energy project development and/or management.
  • Demonstrated experience in most aspects of project evaluation and development.
  • Demonstrated experience in creating and utilizing financial models and tools to effectively support business decisions.
  • Works well in a team environment and must be able to collaborate.
  • English language proficiency.
