Job Title: 320kV Transmission Specialist

Job Description:

Responsible for planning, administration, management, preparation, and execution of electrical works.

Key Responsibilities / Tasks / Deliverables



Responsibilities:

  • Implementation of Electrical Safety Rules on site, including the safe system of work.
  • Advise operationally on high voltage electrical installations to WTG, offshore substations, and both HV submarine and onshore cables.
  • Oversee safe commissioning of grid connections, onshore substations, and associated MV/HV/LV plant and equipment.
  • Oversee all MV/HV/LV electrical operational activities to ensure safety, security, and integrity of the HV network.
  • Contribute to proactive management, good coordination, and communication between all parties to ensure the process works effectively.
  • Coordinate MV/HV/LV commissioning activities through the project construction stages.


Tasks:

  • Ensure compliance with and management of Electrical Safety Rules.
  • Safety coordination in electrical matters.
  • Act as senior authorized person.
  • Carry out Switching Operations and Lock Out/Tag Out on LV and HV equipment.
  • Outage management and network control in collaboration with the Control Engineers.
  • Update MV/HV/LV schematic diagrams.
  • Inspect work sites and perform site safety inspections and audits for electrical matters.
  • Coordinate with the Lead Commissioning Project Manager to ensure that accurate updates are distributed to the Project Management team.
  • Manage and coordinate HV/MV/LV commissioning activities.
  • Coordinate with National Grid and attend commissioning panel meetings.
  • Prepare and check high voltage switching schedules.
  • Check method statements for electrical matters.
  • Implement and provide training programs for relevant staff according to the rules.
  • Provide technical and engineering advice to working parties for electrical matters.
  • Attend FAT and SAT tests if required.


Deliverables:

  • Input to the project commissioning management manual and related documents (including pre-commissioning and commissioning quality plans).
  • Participation in various audits.
  • Reports from FAT & SAT on different high voltage equipment.
  • Onsite check of switching programs.
  • Participation in the planning of resource and work activities.
  • Participation in authorizations and assessments of new candidates.
  • Provide input to the design phase of the project on technical aspects.

Decision Authority / Responsibility:

  • Decision-making authority related to MV/HV switching and isolations.
  • Issuance of Electrical Safety Rules documents.
  • Management of electrical safety for on-site work.

Requirements:

  • Appropriate electrical qualification and background related to the authorization scope.
  • Several years of operation and commissioning experience within the field of high voltage electricity; offshore experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working within onshore substation systems.
  • Ability to pass GWO and HUET with CA-EBS course (climbing gear person weight limit: 120kg/264lb). Course cost covered, but will be deducted from final pay if the contract is terminated by the candidate/agency within 1 year.
