Job description

We have a current opportunity for a Umbilical Installation Lead with a leading international energy company. The position will be based in Paris on a contract basis.

The Umbilical Installation Lead reports to the EPCI Installation Manager and is accountable for the installation of the Umbilical scope by the Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation (EPCI) Contractor. They shall work closely with the shallow- and deep water Installation Leads and the Company Umbilical Lead Engineer.
The incumbent will be responsible for delivery of the Umbilical installation scope working in conjunction with their counterparts in the Consortium. They are expected to assess, manage, and control the construction vessels phase of the project and ensure the readiness and preparedness for these activities. They shall oversee the Umbilical installation activities in line with agreed execution plans and the Project HSEQ management system. The Umbilical Installation Lead is expected to undertake regular missions to the site and the associated vessels, duration of these missions will span over several weeks at a time within Mozambique. Frequency Of these missions shall be sufficient to ensure that the site team is properly managed and supported, they shall be present during key activities and work periods including start-up of different phases / vessels.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safe, on time and within budget delivery of all Umbilical related elements of the EPCI scope of work whilst ensuring a high level of quality consistent with a project design life.
  • Monitor and manage all facets of work within the Umbilical scope of work and ensure they are performed in compliance with a high regard to schedule, technical, Quality Assurance/Control and HSES requirements are, as a minimum, met or improved upon.
  • Implement a readiness process to ensure a progressive preparation is made by both contractor and company teams towards the start of site activities and that this is documented.
  • Establish an accurately defined schedule for all phases of the Umbilical Installation work and ensure these are kept up to date.
  • Bring to earliest attention of the EPCI Installation Manager issues which present a significant threat to the Project and in addition offer mitigating measures / work plans. Represent the EPCI Team as needed, at both internal and external meetings.
  • Define, monitor and manage work tasks with external consultants and contractors as required.
  • Ensure that all Umbilical work activities are performed in compliance with project technical requirements and are fit for purpose.
  • Ensure all marine spread inspection and follow-up activities are satisfactorily carried out and MWS are engaged in that process.
  • Ensure identification and resolution of detailed interface issues, in conjunction with other lead engineers, in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Ensure, in conjunction with project HSE department, that all Umbilical scope of work activities are performed in compliance with a high regard to Health, Safety, Security and Environmental requirements.


Requirements:

  • Minimum of 15 years' experience in engineering and management of large scale EPCI contracts with regards to the umbilical installation and proven team leadership / management experience.
  • Experienced and able to assess and analyze an umbilical installation spread, contractors' capabilities and challenge the robustness of their overall execution planning to deliver an umbilical installation campaign.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in general deep water installation aspects.
  • Ability to get along well with others in an international / multi-cultural environment and take a pragmatic approach to problem solving situations.
  • Desire to take responsibility for own area of work and to hold self-accountable to deliver in accordance with responsibilities.
  • Ability to manage interfaces between multiple contractors.
  • Ability to develop good working relationships with contractors and contractor personnel and progress collaborative problem solving.
  • Fluency in the English language.
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent is required.
  • Current BOSIET and OGUK medical.
