Construction Estimator
Houston, TX (77060)
In-office, 40 Hour Work Week
(6) Month Contract
Must Have
* Advanced experience with Aspen Capital Cost Estimator
* Demonstrate ability to lead full EPC lump sum proposals and projects over $1B estimated value
Position Summary:
The position is within the Global Cost Estimating Organization and is responsible for estimating total installed capital costs for Process Gases plants including Blue and Green Hydrogen facilities, Air Separation Plants and Packaged Plants for projects in Europe and Africa on both a Sale of Equipment and Sale of Gas (Build, Own, Operate) basis with plant values from $10m to in excess of $1bn.
* Preparing detailed estimate development plans and interfacing between Proposals, Engineering, Procurement, Contracts and Construction to assess key deliverables and timeline for the estimate development.
* Serves as an intra-corporate expert on Estimating methods and systems, leading all customers to the most effective solutions for their requirements.
* Adhere to all applicable Operating Principles/Standards and Estimating Procedures to drive consistency across regional offices and business lines.
* Responsible to generate a complete cost estimate from conceptual AACEI Class V to detailed Class II estimates with final cost of all equipment, bulks, fabrication, construction man-hours, direct and In-direct cost.
* Assure and challenge the technical elements to ensure their consistency in regard to the defined scope.
* Review procurement pricing for equipment and bulk materials, bids for subcontract packages for construction. May participate in discussions / negotiations with vendors and contractors.
* Provides guidance, direction and specialized assistance for the resolution of complex estimating problems in accordance with the company's procedures.
* Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills to assess estimates and compare with historical performance on projects. Support the development and maintenance of estimate benchmarks and metrics.
* Preparing detailed basis of estimates and estimate review packages including risk analysis and contingency recommendations.
* Assist in providing mentoring and coaching for maximizing performance of Estimating professionals
* Ensure estimate quality and integrity, including quality data checks and incorporation of lessons learned into the estimate.
* Effectively present review packages, including analysis, to estimate team, department management, business line management, and senior executives.
* Experience in delivering estimates globally.
* Proven ability to work in a team environment and demonstrated leadership experience of coordinating multinational teams in multiple locations.
* Confident communication skills as the role will include presentations for plans and estimates to senior management.
* Demonstrates an excellent understanding of all direct and indirect elements of the estimate, knowledgeable in developing estimates including modular scope and can mentor junior estimators in the development of such discipline estimates.
* Demonstrated ability to establish the conceptual scopes of estimates and studies when definition is not available; applies experience and expert judgment to compensate for undefined scope.
