Orion Group Life Sciences are looking for an EHSS Manager for our Multinational Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology client based in Breda. Initial 12-month contract, after 6 months possibility of going permanent. This is a fulltime onsite position.

Role Summary

As the Environment, Health & Safety Manager, you'll lead in managing and improving our EHS programs, ensuring compliance with both regulatory standards and corporate requirements. Your role will be pivotal in advancing our existing EHS management system, encouraging a culture of safety, and enhancing operational efficiency. In this role you will be exposed to a wide variety of EHS topics, both in Assurance and Control, and develop into a well-rounded professional!

Main Responsibilities of the role

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive EHS policies, procedures, and programs in accordance with local, European and Corporate regulations and industry best practices of our client.
  • Conduct regular assessments and audits to identify potential hazards, evaluate risks, and implement effective controls and mitigation strategies.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to cross-functional teams to promote a culture of safety, environmental and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with internal partners to ensure EHS considerations are integrated into business planning, decision-making, and operations.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies, industry groups, and external partners to stay abreast of emerging EHS trends, regulations, and best practices.
  • Lead incident investigations, non-conformances, and risk management processes to prevent recurrence and drive continuous improvement.
  • Prepare and deliver EHS training programs, workshops, and initiatives to enhance employee awareness, competence, and engagement. Represent our client within the corporate EHS network of our client and external organizations, showcasing our dedication to safety and sustainability.

Required Qualifications and skills.

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Proven experience in EHS management, preferably within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other highly regulated industry.
  • Solid understanding of applicable EHS regulations and industry standards (e.g., GMP, ISO 14001).
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing EHS programs, policies, and initiatives.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and drive results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Experience with incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action management.
  • Commitment to continuous learning, professional development, and staying current with EHS trends and best practices.
