Job description
Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Finance Director, based in Aberdeen.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Strategy & Commercial Leadership:
* Lead the development and execution of the company's financial strategy in line with business goals.
* Provide strategic recommendations to the CEO and board based on financial analysis and projections.
* Identify and drive commercial opportunities to enhance profitability and growth.
* Oversee cash flow management, capital structuring, and budgeting to ensure optimal resource allocation.
Financial Planning & Analysis:
* Manage all aspects of financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting.
* Produce and present financial reports, including profit/loss statements, balance sheets, and forecasts.
* Analyse financial data to identify key drivers of business performance and recommend corrective actions.
* Use high-level Excel for complex financial modelling, sensitivity analysis, and scenario planning.
Legal & Compliance:
* Ensure that the company complies with all statutory and regulatory requirements.
* Oversee legal aspects such as contracts, compliance, and risk management.
* Collaborate with external legal advisors on complex matters, ensuring all business activities align with legal requirements.
Systems & Process Improvement:
* Lead continuous improvement in financial systems and reporting processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
* Ensure optimal utilization of financial software, including high-level Excel functionalities, and drive the implementation of any new financial systems as needed.
Team Leadership & Development:
* Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, ensuring high performance and continuous growth.
* Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and personal development within the department.
* Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to align business strategies and finance operations.
Board Collaboration:
* Collaborate with the rest of the board on key business decisions, providing financial insights and risk assessments.
* Ensure transparency in all financial reporting to the board and key stakeholders.
* Contribute to strategic discussions and long-term planning as a senior leader of the organization.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Professional Qualification: ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent experience.
* Relevant progressive financial experience, with at experience in a leadership role.
* Proven track record in financial leadership within a commercial environment.
* Strong proficiency in Excel for high-level financial analysis and modelling.
* Experience in managing legal matters, including contracts and compliance.
* Experience in managing or implementing financial systems.
Key Competencies:
* Commercial acumen: A strong understanding of business drivers and the ability to translate financial data into commercial strategy.
* Leadership skills: Ability to inspire and mentor a team, while fostering a collaborative environment.
* Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to present complex financial information clearly.
* Analytical Thinking: Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make data-driven decisions.
* Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with other departments and the board to achieve strategic goals.
Desirable Skills:
* Experience working in the energy sector a positive.
* Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central advantageous.
