Job Title: Planning/Scheduling Engineer
Position Summary:
The Planning/Scheduling Engineer supports construction and engineering activities by developing and maintaining project schedules. Collaborating with project teams, this role ensures alignment with milestones, manages risks, and identifies opportunities to optimize project execution. The position requires strong proficiency in scheduling tools and analytical skills to provide accurate and actionable schedule management insights.
Key Responsibilities:
Schedule Development and Management
- Create and maintain detailed project schedules using software such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
- Develop Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and integrate schedules with cost data to ensure seamless planning.
- Establish project plans and critical path networks through collaborative interactive sessions with key stakeholders.
Schedule Monitoring and Reporting
- Track progress against project milestones and conduct variance analyses to identify risks and delays.
- Provide regular schedule updates and earned value progress reports to stakeholders.
- Analyze the impact of project changes (scope, resources, priorities) and recommend mitigation strategies.
Optimization and Coordination
- Perform forward and backward pass assessments for critical path and schedule optimization.
- Resource load schedules to identify and resolve resource conflicts effectively.
- Facilitate meetings with team members, vendors, and contractors to address schedule updates and forecasts.
Documentation and Communication
- Prepare graphical and tabular schedule reports, including 90-day lookaheads and master schedules.
- Support corporate reporting requirements and assist in the preparation of historical data and performance metrics.
- Participate actively in project reviews by delivering insights into schedule status and improvements.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Experience: Demonstrated experience as a Planning/Scheduling Engineer or Project Controls Specialist in the construction or engineering industry.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and related scheduling tools.
- Skills:
- Deep understanding of project management principles (e.g., schedule development, resource management, risk analysis).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to thrive in team environments.
