Job description

Orion Group Life Sciences are looking for a Senior Manager Warehouse for our Pharmaceutical client based in the Haarlem Area. Initial 12-month contract, with option to extend or possibility to go permanent after. 40 hours per week on site, daily start at 08:00 (team is working in shifts).

What will you do
This position is responsible for monitoring and directing the activities and staff of the warehouse, shipping and receiving goods, inventory control and other functions. Ensures that employees have the tools, resources and training needed to perform work in safe and compliant manner with all regulatory requirements, company policies and procedures.

Main Responsibilities of the role

  • Maintain safety, quality and compliance standards as top priority in day to day operations. Ensure all processes are in place, and fully maintained, in a safely and high standards to cover all aspects of inventory and storage management, receiving , pick and pack, and distribution.

  • Provide leadership in the warehouse to ensure teams exceed in all applicable functional and business targets and develop appropriate talent management and succession programs. When required, extend this leadership beyond the warehouse function in the pursuit of excellence of the site.

  • Manage the short, medium and long term warehouse capacity requirements, regularly reviewing space modelling, ensuring proactive plans for capacity requirements.

  • Assure the right implementation and usage of SAP by warehouse personnel.

  • Responsible for timely and secure receipt, storage and transfer of materials.

  • Responsible for managing the inventory of raw materials, packaging components and released finished goods in an organized and timely manner.

  • Responsible for conducting cycle counting and physical inventory as required.

  • Responsible for executing assigned continuous improvement initiatives in all levels.

  • Responsible for writing, reviewing and/or approving Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, etc. as required.

  • Responsible for supporting and assisting with audits, warehouse tours by internal and external visitors, participate in quality investigations and initiating resolution as needed.

  • Maintain a close relationship with all site functions, in particular QC, QA, EHS, Production and SC Planning to ensure that processes are followed to deliver goods compliantly and reliably to serve the requirements of the internal and external customers.

  • Responsible for performing additional related duties as assigned.

  • Responsible to define and run full set of related KPI and reports, to measure main and/or sensitive streams / activities in the warehouse.

  • To manage periodical operational meetings, to monitor and discuss the above indicators / data, and define any needed improvement.

  • Responsible to manage the warehouse budget starting with annual plan, to reflect related logistics costs, to plan and monitor the budget monthly and reflect any change vs. the annual plan , by explaining the reasons for budget changes.

  • Responsible to plan and submit, according to the processes of our client, and the actual w/h needs, the annual CAPEX plan, and later on make sure to fully implement what have been approved.

Desired Experience and Background of the successful candidate

  • Prefer Bachelor's degree or equivalent.

  • Black belt certification - preferred.

  • Requires 10 years warehousing experience in a manufacturing environment including budget management.

  • Requires 5 years working in a regulated industry such as pharmaceutical (preferred), nutraceutical or food processing.

  • Experience with handling hazardous materials and controlled substances, cold store items, automated warehouse systems, high-bay storage facilities.

  • SAP and WMS Experience.

  • Experience in implementing and improving EHS procedures.

  • Computer proficiency with comprehensive working knowledge of MS Office products and manufacturing / quality systems such as Trackwise and Qdocs.

  • Communicate effectively with excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Self-directed with ability to organize and prioritize work for others.

  • Ability to identify the developmental needs of others and provide coaching, mentoring or encouragement to help others improve their knowledge or skills.

  • Ability to motivate, influence and lead others with and/or without direct supervisory authority.

  • Ability to positively manage conflict, provide difficult feedback and negotiate resolution.

  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships between teams, departments and business units.
