Job description

Great opportunity to work as a Senior Project Manager for a reputable international E&P Company in Vienna. The position is based in Vienna but will be havily involved in projects in North Africa and will require regular travel to the region.

The project team will work on the upgrade and replacing of surface facilities and field infrastructure and as well of drilling and workover activities. In the role as a Senior Project Manager you will lead major capital projects, supporting my client's business strategy in North Africa.

The Role:
  • Responsible for planning and implementing defined projects in time, scope and budget, incl. funding limitations, internal and external procedures, resource-planning and organizational requirements. 
  • Provide leadership and support for Upstream Major and Minor Capital Projects in all phases.
  • Ensure application of Best Practice front end loading principles, development of key project deliverables, and adherence to HSSE rules.
  • Accountable to develop and implement Project Assurance- and -Execution Plans and required governance-processes, plan and manage internal and external resources and interfaces.
  • Responsible to develop contracting strategies, lead negotiations with contractors, and ensure procurement of services and materials in accordance with company standards. Ensure contract- and claim-management being set up and implemented.
  • Responsible for the preparation of cost- estimates and project-schedules (incl. CRA, SRA). as well as implement cost and schedule management plans, conduct progress-monitoring and ensure timely reporting of updates and changes.
  • Accountable to coordinate and actively drive required project management activities, such as risk management, communication- and interface management, stakeholder management, Change Management, Document management, reporting and lessons learned.
  • Responsible to derive measures from above project-management activities to ensure timely recognition and resolution of issues as well as decision-making.
Requirements:
  • University degree in oil & gas, energy, or petrochemical-related area.
  • Minimum of 9 years of project management experience in the oil & gas/energy industry, with a strong understanding of Project Management and Business Development processes.
  • Experience in managing large and complex projects, successfully completed within schedule and budget constraints, preferably in a multinational and complex or remote environment.  
  • Proven experience with the Opportunity Maturation and Project Delivery process and the Capital Project Management directive. 
  • Proven ability to lead project teams of up to/beyond 50 people in a complex and multicultural environment.
  • Strong commitment to health, safety, security, and environmental protection, with experience in developing and implementing HSSE plans.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, fluency in English (German and other languages advantageous). 
  • Strong self-motivation, team-oriented mindset, and willingness to take into account other people's ideas.
  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally on regular business trips to North Africa.
