Senior Safety Case Engineer (Nuclear Projects)
Contract - 12 months+
Location - Hybrid (on site at Rosyth 2-3 days per month)
Umbrella PAYE - £75 to £100 per hour

Our client, Babcock International is a successful and innovative engineering support business who are seeking to appoint a qualified Senior Safety Case Engineer to support several high spend Nuclear Projects at their site in Rosyth. The successful candidate will need to satisfy SC level security clearance & meet ITAR criteria.

The Role
As Senior Safety Case Engineer, you'll be part of a first of its kind programme, decommissioning and disposing of assets no longer required for defence purposes.


Within this role, you'll be responsible for the identification and classification of work affecting nuclear safety. You will also:


* Work closely with projects, design, operations and maintenance functions to identify and review planned or emergent work which will require nuclear safety justifications, and provide an initial safety categorisation in terms of nuclear risk
* Maintain the Safety Justification for nuclear facilities and their operation
* Manage and regularly review the extant Facility Safety Cases with projects, design, maintenance and operations to identify relevant Learning from Experience (LFE) and/or changes affecting the safety case
37 hour working week, agile working with a requirement to attend Rosyth site 2-3 times per month.

Essential Experience


* Experience in the production and management of safety cases, ideally within a nuclear decommissioning environment.
* Ability to understand and apply as necessary, risk assessment and criteria setting, reliability assessment, fault tree analysis, HAZOP studies, failure mode effects analysis, human reliability analysis and radiological consequence assessment in the production of safety documents.
* Knowledge of QA processes.
* Experience working in a Licensee organisation.
* Experience of applying proportionate design mindset to meet safety requirements.

Desirable Experience
* Experience acting as an Intelligent Customer
* Knowledge and experience in conventional Health, Safety & Environment, including regulations and standards.

Qualifications Required
* Relevant Engineering or Science degree essential.
* NIC or equivalent.
* The candidate must be able to achieve ITAR, NNPPI and SC security clearance for this role.
