Job description

We have a new opening for a Senior Subsea Designer with a major client in Dubai, UAE. The role is residential, 5 days per week in the office. Yearly renewable contract.

Reports to: Lead Piping Designer / Design Office Team Lead

Job Purpose

The Senior Subsea Designer will support the Design Office Team Lead within the department to implement engineering projects and provide day-to-day operational support. This role is essential for meeting project, maintenance, and production team schedules.

Key Result Areas (Key Accountabilities)

  1. Develop detailed engineering deliverables for all in-house brownfield and greenfield projects.
  2. Provide subsea piping technical support for operational support and design engineering as required.
  3. Travel to offshore/onshore assets for survey data and dimensional checks.
  4. Update and maintain critical pipeline field charts & SATMAR charts.
  5. Interpret vendor documentation and data to incorporate into design packages.
  6. Check all completed designs and drawings for accuracy, completeness, and conformity to standards, specifications, and regulations.
  7. Implement best practices in repair and replace methods, technology, techniques, and innovations to reduce production downtime, cost, and resources.
  8. Provide input into engineering estimates including man-hours and offshore implementation.
  9. Participate in 3D model & constructability reviews.
  10. Setup and maintain discipline master design drawings and document files, including archiving.
  11. Liaise with multidiscipline engineers within the Engineering Department and externally within the Production and Integrity Departments.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience, and Job Related Competencies

Educational Qualifications

  • Full-time Diploma/Certificate in Engineering or Equivalent with specialization in Civil/Structural Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.

Experience Profile

  • Strong design/engineering experience in the Oil and Gas Industry.
  • Prior experience in a similar position.
  • Working experience with Arc GIS software and onshore pipeline engineering deliverables is an added advantage.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite; Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Map is an added advantage.
  • Strong design engineering experience in all types of Subsea Piping deliverables and activities, including but not limited to:
    • Interpretation of 3D piping layouts to create 2D fabrication deliverables.
    • Interpretation of offshore and site survey information to create 2D fabrication deliverables.
    • Understanding of pipe support practices and procedures.
    • Constructability awareness.
    • Subsea jackets, structures, and pipeline design.

Competencies/Skills/Others

  • Strong knowledge in subsea design and draughting deliverable creation, including but not limited to:
    • Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's)
    • Subsea general arrangements and approach drawings
    • Subsea equipment layouts
    • Subsea supports J/I Tubes
    • Subsea inspection reports of jackets, structures, and pipelines
    • Risers & Boat Landings
    • Pipeline crossings and shore approaches
    • Isometrics
    • Material Take Off's (MTO's)
  • Strong knowledge of subsea structural design.
  • Strong knowledge of Brownfield design.
  • Competent to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting company and departmental objectives.
  • Experience with pipeline emergency repairs is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of Quality Assurance (QA) systems.
  • Proficient in 2D and 3D AutoCAD software.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Effective working within a multi-cultural team.
