Job description

Animal Care Technician I or II (Husbandry)
Onsite in Worcester, MA
1 year initial contract
Work Schedule: 5:45am to 2:15pm, M-F
Hourly Pay Rate: 0-3 yrs experience - $20/hr, 3-5 yrs experience - $26/hr

The Husbandry Care Technician I is responsible for the husbandry care for the animals. He/She also has direct contact with animals providing husbandry and cage changing. The person cleans cages using cage wash machinery and prepares feed and bedding for the technicians.
* Maintain cage wash equipment: tunnel washer, rack washer & autoclave
* Maintain cage wash areas
* Order, receive, and autoclave feed, bedding, and water
* Process caging
* Clean laundry & maintain laundry
* Environmental monitoring on bottle filler, rack & tunnel washers
* Operate the hydropac system
* Learn and perform euthanasia methods such as CO2 and exsanguination
* Other duties as needed

What are the top skills, experience or education required for this position:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent and one year experience in laboratory animal field; or AS/BS degree.
2. 0-3 years of experience
3. Able to perform repetitive procedures
4. Must be adaptable and flexible to meet demands of ever changing work environment
5. Understands and acts on detailed instructions
6. Able to lift 40 pounds of food - with help if needed
