Animal Health Technician II
Onsite in Worcester, MA
1 year initial contract
Hourly Rate: $35-38/hr (medical, dental, & vision employee benefits available at a cost)
Shift Hours: Monday - Friday, 5:45am to 2:15pm, weekends and holidays rotated, OT when needed

Orion Group is seeking for a detail oriented and highly organized Animal Health Technician to work on-site in Worcester, MA for our global pharmaceutical client's vivarium lab. This position will work closely with the department of Comparative Medicine to provide health surveillance, preventative disease programs and daily husbandry and care for all laboratory animals at the Bioresearch Center.

In doing so, the organization helps to assure that properly trained scientists perform all animal model-based research and development conducted at the Bioresearch Center in a humane, regulatory-compliant, scientifically sound and socially acceptable manner.

The Comparative Medicine department provides the scientific support and technical training for research scientists and their groups. The department has primary responsibility for assuring that the Animal Care Program meets the standards for continued accreditation by the Association for the Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC) and meets the regulations required for compliance with the Animal Welfare Act (AWA).

The primary goals of the Technician II, in priority order, are to perform husbandry, dosing and sample collection techniques and to train lower-level personnel on husbandry policies and procedures.

* HS Diploma is required with at least 3+ years of prior experience with Animal Husbandry
* Ability to independently perform Quality System documentation
* Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong oral and written communications skills
* Willingness to learn and grow

What is a nice to have (but not required) skill, experience, education, or certification?
* AS Degree/Bachelor of Science or related field; 2 year pharma experience, ALAT or LAT certification, rodent husbandry skills/experience
