Job description
Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Controls and Instruments Support Engineer, based in Aberdeen.
Responsibilities:
* Individually demonstrate positive HSE behaviour and awareness at all times and engage in clear conversation with personnel about HSE issues.
* Responsible for ensuring positive HSE performance by personnel, contractors and others working under the direction of the Electrical Engineer.
* Responsible for ensuring that Controls and Instruments OPEX engineering work remains within/below budget , planned schedule and in accordance with design brief.
* Responsible for detailing OPEX improvements to Controls/Instruments and Telecoms systems for consideration by Engineering Team Leaders
* Represent the company as contract representative for asset support contracts
* Develop improvements to enhance and optimise Controls and Instruments systems.
* Liaise with control system vendors to implement healthcare contractual obligations
* Provide technical input to the procurement of replacement instrument and control system equipment
* Participate as the company's representative at FAT and SAT witnessing testing
* Review and scrutinise proposed software changes as proposed by offshore operations and maintenance teams
* Manage and administer use of Asset Guardian for control of all proposed software changes
* Provide technical support for equipment fault finding investigations and assist with the resolution of operational problems, including participation in and close-out of accident/incident investigations and equipment failure root cause analysis.
* Collaborate with the company's C&I Technical Authority on issues relating to engineering improvements.
* Provide onshore discipline support to the Integrated Asset Planning process.
* Provide discipline support to the management and review of PMRs within MAXIMO maintenance management system
* Ensure work Controls and Instruments procedures are technically sound and carried out in accordance with the company's Management Systems and procedures.
* Participate in the company's process for the control and management of safety risk assessments
* Share and adopt best practices across the company and support and identify opportunities to enhance consistency where practicable.
* Maintain an appreciation of the latest Controls and Instruments emerging technologies that will improve the performance of the asset
* Provide recommendations for Controls and Instruments critical spares and optimise asset inventory.
* Liaise with other support engineers, technical authorities, vendor representatives, and manufacturers to ensure vendor support is efficiently applied when required.
* Contribute to the development of the field optimisation strategy and the business planning process.
* Make regular trips offshore to enhance communication and promote understanding of goals
* Communicate discipline issues to management and the onshore team.
* Support recruitment, selection, training and competency programs for onshore and offshore teams, to ensure the effective resourcing of technicians.
* Take ownership for the continuous development of personal and technical expertise and knowledge
* Participate in the generation, review and approval of vendor Purchase Orders contract documentation and billing
Experience & Qualifications:
* Qualified with a degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent (or equivalent experience)
* Good working knowledge of ICSS type control system equipment (Honeywell, Rockwell, Yokogawa, ABB, Siemens)
* Knowledge and experience gained in the management of ICSS control system healthcare contractual agreements
* Good working knowledge of the use and application of safety risk assessments
* Good working knowledge of field instrumentation (i.e. calibration and instrument selection to specific application)
* Considerable experience of the oil and gas industry, predominantly gained in an engineering and production operations environment.
* Good working knowledge and application of relevant UK oil and gas industry regulations and Standards
* Familiar with quality processes and the application of continuous improvement tools
* Experience in the use of MAXIMO maintenance management system useful
