Job description

Our Operator client based in the centre of Aberdeen is seeking an Accountant/Cost Engineer with a background in Drilling/Wells accounting and a good technical understanding of subsurface and drilling activities. Initially a 12-month contract but with the potential to extend long term.

Responsibilities:
* Provision of management information to the company's Operational and Management Teams to support performance management and decision making.
* Ensure that accurate business assumptions are incorporated in the company's accounting and forecasting processes.
* Regularly interact with the company's D&C and Decommissioning Teams to develop Budgets and robust monthly forecast updates. In order to do this the individual will develop a thorough understanding of the company's Business, key contractual arrangements and the key cost drivers.
* Provide information and highlight key issues to the company's D&C and Decommissioning Team and Management on a routine and adhoc basis to allow them to better understand and manage costs.
* Analyse key variances from Budget and previous month's forecast and communicate these effectively to the company's Management.
* Be aware of commercial arrangements relating to your area of responsibility and ensure these are correctly reflected in forecasts, budgets, and plans and are followed appropriately.
* Cost tracking of all well plug and abandonment
* Meet with D&C Team regularly to review and agree costs reporting to Management Teams
* Completion of campaign reconciliations
* Audit co-ordination for D&C and Decommissioning Team during joint venture partner audits
* Prepare analysis and commentary for Quarterly Partner Reports.
* Prepare scenario-based cost estimates
* Collate monthly value of work done (VOWD) estimates and critically review accrual levels to ensure that the company's monthly financial reporting is accurate and reasonably represents the underlying business.
* Provide corporate reporting team with understanding of costs and activity.
* Preparation of AFE's (Internal and External)
* Feed into the annual Decommissioning Cost Estimate update process
* Preparation through to sign off of half yearly PRT accrual justification
* Co-ordinate and provide input into annual budget process.

Experience & Qualifications:
* Ability to communicate in a factual and appropriate manner across functions and at all organisational levels.
* Strong team playing skills across the business and across the finance department.
* Confidence to challenge and ask pertinent questions.
* Strong analytical skills and ability to focus on the important issues.
* Ability to manage time to ensure most value adding activities are prioritised.
* Good working knowledge of oil and gas exploration and production business.
* A good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required to perform this role competently.
* Experience of working with Maximo7.6 Wellview10.2, Enterprise One 9.1 and Microsoft Office applications will be an advantage although training will be given as required.
* Experience of Decommissioning Well Plug & Abandonment campaigns
* Ability to coach more junior members of the team and provide leadership to the wider team if situation requires it.
* The candidate will have oil and gas industry experience and have worked in a similar role.
