Job description
Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Drilling Supervisor (Nights or Days), based in Aberdeen.
Responsibilities:
* Providing on-site leadership, role modelling exemplary safety leadership and influencing a positive safety culture.
* Ensuring adherence to safe working practices through active engagement with Drilling Contractor and Service Company personnel, and the promotion of positive HSE attitudes and learning.
* Monitoring the status of process safety barriers to ensure well control is maintained.
* Leading the Assist & Assure program onsite and role modelling Goal Zero Supervision.
* Ensure drilling contractor is operating an effective DROPS programme onsite.
* Delivering the on-site self-assurance programme to manage and monitor compliance with the company and Drilling Contractor HSE Management Systems, the HSE Bridging Document, Well Control Plan, the Safety Case and regulatory requirements.
* Leading or being part of incident investigation teams.
* Accurately reporting all incidents and potential incidents.
* Managing the day-to-day operations to deliver Top Quartile well programme and the well objectives. Planning, scheduling and allocation of resources and reporting of all well site activities.
* Optimising operational performance without compromising HSE, reputation, well integrity, or the integrity of the drilling unit.
* Optimising logistics to ensure people and equipment are at the wellsite when required and delivered in an efficient manner.
* Stimulating and implementing ideas to improve operational performance and reduce cost. Ensuring there is a process where lessons learned are documented and incorporated in future operations. Challenging the well engineers, contractors and well programme to recommend performance enhancements.
* Resolving operational problems as they arise.
* Monitoring and managing costs within area of responsibility.
* Managing non-performance onsite through quality management systems.
* Managing Combined Operations and the interface with other offshore installations and company assets affected by rig operations.
* Ensuring the drilling unit systems are managed and operated within their integrity envelope.
* Manage HSE Risks: Including injury to personnel, environmental damage, process safety / well control risks, loss of the well or down-hole equipment, reputation damage, loss or deferment of production, project delays and budget overruns, subsurface uncertainties and mechanical failures.
* People Management: Set expectations with all personnel regarding compliance with the Company's policies. Role model and champion the company's values and behaviours and provide visible leadership and clear direction.
* People Development: Coach and develop Well Site Drilling Engineers and the other DSVs in the team, setting the tone for the rest of the company's supervisory team.
* Contractor Management: Supervise a large rig team comprising staff from the company, drilling contractor and service contractors (~100 people). Assess the competence and suitability of contractor personnel and take action to address any shortcomings.
* Cost Management: Manage a daily spend of approximately £250,000, ensuring the company receives value for money.
* Culture building: Create the appropriate culture, behaviours and motivation to sustain and improve HSE and operational performance.
* Learner Mindset: The Senior DSV plays a key role in recording and sharing of lessons learned and best practices between the various operations teams and within the SSV community.
* Well Planning: The Senior DSV will provide direct input to well planning to achieve continuous improvement and consistent top quartile performance through a learning organization.
* This is an HSSE Critical Position
Experience & Qualifications:
* The ability to manage and motivate the Team to deliver Safety Excellence and Top Quartile wells.
* The ability to provide solutions to reduce flat time and manage concurrent operations.
* A proven track record in managing well construction operations in complex drilling environments (H2S and well control up to 18ppg kicks).
* A proven track record of quickly identifying the key risks and proactively working to find solutions.
* Extensive offshore supervisory experience including P&A
* Experience with implementing successful Assist & Assure programmes
* IWCF level 4 certificate
