Job description

Key requirements and essential skills for the role:

  • Act as the 'intelligent customer' for environmental issues for specific areas across the management hierarchy.
  • Promote the sustainability vision, embed into every day working and win the hearts and minds of client personnel.
  • Produce timely and accurate environmental specialist advice, as a subject matter expert to ensure compliance and improve environmental performance.
  • Derive and analyse environmental performance metrics.
  • Manage / undertake walkthroughs inspections, audits and investigations.
  • Seek opportunities for improvements and to learn from experience.
  • Develop and proactively manage the interface/relationship with all internal and external regulators/stakeholders.
  • Manage / produce technical documents/ requirements in support of the Environmental Management System (EMS).

Key Accountabilities:

  • Produce timely and accurate environmental assessments and documentation, as a subject matter expert, for one or more IPD projects.
  • Manage the technical development, production and review of documentation within the scope of the Environmental Management System (EMS), as appropriate.
  • Assure the implementation of environmental requirements from the EMS within relevant project area.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for environmental advice within the project.
  • Advise on the production and development of environmental strategies and actively encourage their implementation.
  • Manage and participate in the evaluation of compliance process, including but not limited to inspections, audits and investigations.
  • Advise on the production and development of improvement plans and assure their successful implementation.
  • Develop and proactively manage the interface/relationship with all internal and external regulators/stakeholders.
  • Liaise across the business, as required, to ensure a connected approach.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that strategies, policies and management system requirements are communicated and understood.
  • Confidently challenge activities and processes that fall short of the expected standard of environmental protection and sustainability.

Minimum Requirement:

  • Experience working within Nuclear sector with permits.
  • Experience working within project environments.
