Field Service Engineer

Permanent

Salary - £45,000 + bonus + benefits + works vehicle

Location - Paisley / Central Scotland

Our client, an expanding Specialist technical support business' is seeking to appoint a capable Field Service Engineer to join their team in supporting customers UK & Europe wide in the Automotive, Defence and Aerospace sectors.

Additional training will be required in applying engineering skills in this specialist sector.

A works van will be provided to commute between various sites.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum requirement HNC in Electrical / Electronic or Mechanical Engineering
  • Proven experience in design and repair of complex electronic systems
  • Proven experience in Linear (Class A) and Digital power (Class D) amplifiers
  • Experience and understanding of Environmental Testing, especially Vibration Testing would be a distinct advantage.
  • Experience in working in some or all of the following areas are essential: industrial electronic systems, mechanical fitting, fault finding to component level.
  • Experience of industrial plant maintenance would be an advantage.
  • Strong engineering background including electro-mechanical knowledge.
  • Experience with closed loop control systems
  • Able to work under pressure and have good problem-solving skills.
  • Be adaptable to undertake other tasks when presented with the opportunity.

Essential requirements:

  • Must have a valid Passport.
  • Must hold a full valid Driving license.
  • Will need to satisfy Security Clearance & Disclosure Scotland process to work on M.O.D and similar secure sites.

  • Learning new technical skills

Main duties:

  • Service and maintain vibration test systems at customer sites throughout the UK (mainly central belt Scotland) and Europe in accordance with the recommended procedures.
  • Install new electro dynamic vibration test systems at customer locations in UK and Europe
  • Carry out service support, limited telephone support and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure repaired systems meet operating specifications.
  • Read and interpret schematics and electrical diagrams through to the component level.
  • Isolate the system fault at the component level for electronic, vacuum, and mechanical systems and repair.
  • Input test profiles into a vibration controller
  • Propose design enhancements and improvements.
  • Document work performed in a service report.
  • Ensure agreed customer proposals and schedules are fulfilled to agreed company and industry technical standards while working to health and safety standards.
  • Root Cause Analysis
  • Continual Improvement Activities
  • Promote company affiliated products to customers.

Additional training will be required for the successful candidate to upskill in the engineering processes required in this specialist sector.
