Job description
Our client, a market leader in renewable energy, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Grid Connections Project Manager to join their growing EPC team. The successful candidate will act as the primary lead on all grid connection activities, ensuring the safe and successful connection and energisation of projects on time and within budget. With a focus on solar and battery energy storage (BESS) installations, you'll be working on some of the most exciting renewable energy projects in the UK and Northern Europe.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic individual with experience in grid connection management to contribute to the energy transition towards net-zero.
Key Responsibilities:
- End-to-end delivery of grid connection projects, from handover to EPC team through to construction, energisation, and commissioning.
- Manage all grid connection activities across various DNO networks, including tracking project budgets.
- Lead meetings with DNOs, ICPs, and contractors, providing regular updates to stakeholders.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external consultants to ensure grid compliance and regulatory standards.
- Assist in obtaining consents for cable routes and connections, collaborating with landowners and legal teams.
- Provide technical support during design, construction, and commissioning, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to high safety and quality standards.
Skills & Competencies:
Essential
- Proven experience in grid connection management, including understanding of grid codes, standards, and regulations.
- Minimum 2 years of project management experience in a relevant sector.
- Knowledge of Distribution and Transmission Network Operator connection processes.
- Proficiency in MS Project and Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience with Health, Safety, and Environmental risk management.
- Understanding of CDM Regulations 2015 and associated design risk assessments.
- Full, clean UK driving licence (role requires travel to project sites).
Desirable
- Background in a DNO or ICP would be advantageous.
- Experience in utility-scale solar PV and BESS projects.
- Design and engineering knowledge relevant to the renewable energy industry.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related technical discipline.
- Project Management qualification or equivalent.
