Job description

We have a current opportunity for a Materials Metallurgy Welding Engineer on a contract basis. The position will be based in Paris.

Please note that the duration of the contract will be between 6 to 9 months.

ACTIVITIES


1. Verify the work related to material, welding and NDE discipline within the Engineering Team to ensure that schedule,
technical, quality and HSES requirements are met
2. Provide reporting function towards the Engineering Manager for all work activities within area of responsibility, bring
to earliest attention issues which present a significant threat to asset and offer mitigating measures / work plans
3. Supervise and Coordinate with the Alliance all Material, Metallurgy and Welding related activities for the project
covering both FEED and later Detailed Engineering Phases
4. Participate in project meetings and reviews (i.e. design reviews, Interface meetings, HAZIDs / HAZOPs / technical
reviews, constructability reviews, workshops)
5. Contribute to the technical evaluation of engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation and review/approval of
deliverables from the design contractors, subcontractors and vendors
6. Monitor interfaces related to material and welding with all relevant packages
7. Review and comment on ENGINEERING deliverables, ensuring that they meet project requirements and industry
standards
8. Provide prompt response to technical queries, deviation requests and unexpected technical problems from the
Alliance Contractor
9. Participate in technical reviews as required
10. Ensure proper reporting, highlighting critical issues to the project management and proposing remedial actions
11. Contribute to improving the project lessons learned
12. Ensure that the package components are designed in accordance with the Class rules, Regulatory requirements
and Project specifications.
13. Provide effective leadership in identification and resolution of external and internal interfaces
14. Ensure identification and resolution of detailed interface issues, in conjunction with managers / senior discipline
engineers, in an efficient and cost-effective manner
15. Ensure operations and maintenance requirements are incorporated in the design
16. Provide effective leadership in quality performance
17. Gather 'lessons learned' and provide feedback to other company entities as required.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED


- Qualification: Degree in Materials Engineering or Metallurgy
- Languages: English (fluent verbal & written)
- Professional Experience: minimum 12 years
- Experience within project: minimum 10 years

10 years engineering experience in the oil & gas industry, including offshore/site experience and
project work
Conversant with international standards for quality, materials, welding, NDE, coatings and
insulation
Metallic material manufacturing processes and associated qualification testing
Detailed knowledge of industry standards, specifications and best practices
Recognised level of expertise in technical discipline
Experience in management of contractors in respect to QA/QC practices, particularly in relation to
welding fabrication and coating
A proactive approach to site supervision
Significant knowledge of offshore/terminal plant and equipment and maintenance systems
