Job description

Location: Cumbria/Warrington or Motherwell

To support the Mechanical Design Team to deliver practical and innovative solutions to meet the needs of the business and customers. All deliverables are to assure the safest, most cost effective and buildable designs and temporary works designs that meet the customers/ client's specificiation and industry standards.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will have the following accountabilities:

  • Carry out 2D and 3D drawings to meet the needs of the business that includes:
  • Managing requests in a structured manner
  • Ensure drawings are dimensionally correct
  • Ensure drawings are technically robust and are buildable
  • Ensure all CAD work is carried out in compliance with the written standards and procedures and that all drawings are saved/issued using Engineering control systems in the CDE.
  • Ensure that 3D Models/Animations are produced at the forefront of the industry both technically and using the latest technologies and standards, to include Autodesk suite of products mainly using "Inventor Professional" and CDE "Vault Professional"
  • Producing 3D models and detailed manufacturing drawings
  • Stress analysis using built in tools to evaluate final design.
  • Visual Design to include animations and images to meet customers' requirements
  • Producing documentation to support design work (design calculations, risk assessments, etc)
  • Liasing with suppliers to obtain quotes and place orders
  • Creating BIM Models using latest software available.
  • Help develop BIM tools and processes
  • Utilise BIM tools to review and present Engineering solutions
  • Competent is using Office 365 software, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint

You will have the following:

  • Degree/ HND/ HNC Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience in using 3D CAD software (ideally Autodesk Inventor Professional)
