Job description

Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Mechanical Support Engineer, based in Aberdeen.

Responsibilities:
* Provide mechanical discipline support for HVAC and vessel marine systems.
* Supports the ongoing preventative maintenance tasks within the engine room and on marine systems, such as boiler inspections, vac condenser remedials, marine generator servicing, firewater system remedials etc.
* Leads planning corrective maintenance repairs by both core crew and specialist vendors.
* Liaison with other disciplines, vendor representatives, and manufacturers. Ensure vendor support is efficiently applied when required.
* Maintain an appreciation of the latest emerging technologies that will improve the performance of the asset
* Provide recommendations for critical spares and optimise asset inventory.
* Represent the company as contract representative for asset support contracts.
* Assist with the resolution of operational problems, including participation in and close-out of accident/incident investigations and equipment failure root cause analysis.
* Contribute to the development of the field optimisation strategy and the business planning process.
* Make regular trips offshore to enhance communication and promote understanding of goals
* Communicate discipline issues to management and the onshore team.
* Support recruitment, selection, and training and competency programs for onshore and offshore teams, to ensure the effective resourcing of technicians.
* Take ownership for the continuous development of personal and technical expertise and knowledge
* Ensure work procedures are technically sound and carried out in accordance with the company's Management systems and procedures.
* Responsible for ensuring that Mechanical engineering work (OPEX) remains within/below budget.
* Responsible for ensuring delivery of a technically correct & timely Mechanical engineering work (OPEX) service
* Jointly responsible with Asset Supervisors and Engineering Team Leaders for prioritising Mechanical (OPEX) / JIF's to provide an appropriate level of Mechanical engineering support.
* Engage and participate in any operational improvement process to optimise Mechanical engineering (OPEX) support.
* Provide onshore discipline support to the Integrated Asset Planning process.
* Provide discipline support to the review of PMRs within the CMMS
* Provide mechanical support for static mechanical equipment including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks and others as required.

Experience & Qualifications:
* Qualified with a degree in Engineering or equivalent and ideally a master's in mechanical engineering (or equivalent experience)
* Chartered status is desirable
* Technical/operational oil and gas experience is beneficial.
* Ability to build and maintain good relationships with peers in partner oil companies.
* Competent in Microsoft office package
* Knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards
