Netherlands: Payroll Compliance Specialist

As a Payroll Compliance Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our payroll processes are compliant with Dutch laws and regulations. You will work closely with our operations, Group payroll, finance, and HR teams to manage payroll-related compliance issues, stay updated on changing legislation, and implement best practices in payroll management. Your attention to detail and expertise in Dutch payroll regulations will be essential to maintaining the integrity and accuracy of our payroll processes. Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensure that all payroll activities comply with Dutch labour laws, tax regulations, and social security requirements.
  • Oversee and manage payroll processes for temporary employees, ensuring timely and accurate payment.
  • Monitor changes in Dutch payroll legislation, tax laws, and social security regulations, and implement necessary adjustments to procedures.
  • Prepare and assist with internal and external payroll audits as well as generate compliance reports and ensure accurate recordkeeping.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on payroll compliance, providing guidance to colleagues and assist with payroll, tax, and social security queries.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in payroll management and compliance and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with external payroll service providers to ensure service quality and compliance with contractual obligations.

Ideally, you will have a finance, payroll, or accounting qualification along with experience in payroll management and compliance, preferably within the recruitment or staffing industry. It would also be beneficial having experience in NEN 4401 and VCA and associated certification. Candidates must retain an in-depth understanding of Dutch payroll regulations, tax laws, social security, and labour legislation. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret complex regulations should be accompanied with excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Dutch and English.
