A vacancy has arisen within the R/PPE Laundry Operations Team for an Operator to provide support to the ongoing decommissioning programme of work onsite. The work involves cleaning, maintenance and testing of RPE using computerised testing equipment within the respiratory protective equipment workshop and on plant as required to ensure the service supplies fully maintained, safe and complaint equipment to allow decommissioning to move forward on the site. Cover for other areas in the department maybe required dependent on workload.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Carry out routine plant, fire and emergency checks identifying unusual trends and system/component failures and assist in its resolution

  • Carry out routine and non-routine operational activities including support to workshop improvements and repairs as appropriate

  • Collect and Package Waste

  • Undertake completion of tasks as detailed in the Plant Operation Instructions (POIs)

  • Launder, maintain, test and monitor stocks of PPE and RPE

  • Undertake general housekeeping and cleanliness

  • Computer inputting and issue of equipment on Labtec database

  • Carry out facility checks

  • Undertake operational monitoring

  • Perform the responsibilities of Management Appointments relevant to post

Aptitudes and Experience

  • Basic skills in numeracy and literacy

  • Valid UK Drivers Licence

  • Trained in Operational Monitoring and Radiological Awareness

  • Understanding of and ability to comply with plant and process procedures

  • Broad awareness of legislation and regulations applicable to own area

  • Understanding of Management Systems requirements relevant to job function

  • Basic IT skills

  • Sound interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and to tight timescales
