Our client is seeking a highly experienced Principal Marine System Engineer to join our dynamic team in Basingstoke, UK. This role offers the opportunity to provide technical leadership and support Eni's global activities on various projects involving Floating LNG (FLNG) and FPSO facilities.

The client is a wholly owned subsidiary of a global energy leader, and plays a key role in developing projects and providing expert engineering support across the businesses worldwide. The Basingstoke office is a focal point for innovation, with a focus on the energy transition through projects in renewables, hydrogen, and carbon capture & storage (CCS). Make a Difference in Marine Systems Engineering

As a Principal Engineer, you will lead a team of offshore design professionals, providing guidance and expertise in the design of Marine Systems for FLNG and FPSO facilities. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the offshore design team and setting direction for Marine Systems design activities.

  • Establishing internal workflows and planning the team's work for assigned projects.

  • Developing and implementing best technical solutions for Marine Systems.

  • Reviewing and approving technical documentation before issuance.

  • Fostering teamwork and collaboration within your immediate and extended teams.

  • Liaising with other disciplines throughout project execution.

  • Ensuring adherence to pipeline design standards and company HSEQ policies.

  • Maintaining awareness of interfaces between naval architecture, structural design, and marine systems.

  • Reviewing project documentation provided by contractors and shipyards.

Who We Are Looking For

  • Degree in a relevant engineering discipline, such as Mechanical Engineering or Naval Architecture with a focus on Marine Systems.

  • Extensive experience in writing technical specifications and functional requirements for FPSO and FLNG Marine Systems during all project phases (FEED, execution, EPC).

  • Proven expertise in the design of cargo loading, storage & offtake systems, slop & drain systems, bilge & ballast systems, Inert Gas systems, production distribution & venting systems, diesel power generation & auxiliary systems, freshwater production systems, compressed air systems, etc.

  • Familiarity with Classification Society Rules (e.g., DNV, ABS), SOLAS, and MARPOL as applicable to FPSO and FLNG projects is a significant advantage.

  • Experience with FEED and EPC LNG projects, seagoing experience (2nd/Chief Engineer), experience with Oil Tankers/LNG Carriers, a background as a Classification Society Surveyor, or Tanker/LNG Ship Vetting Engineer is highly desirable.

  • OPITO certification for offshore travel is a plus.
