Job description

We have a current opportunity for a QHSE Manager on a permanent basis with a shipping and service company. The position will be based in Den Haag, Netherlands.

The main objective of the QHSE Manager is to manage all aspects of Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE), including advising, monitoring, maintaining, and improving the QHSE manual and Safety Management System (SMS).

Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining certification and distribution of the SMS and QHSE manual, including a list of revisions.

  • Review and continuous improvement of the SMS and QHSE manual.

  • Implementing, coordinating, and supporting the execution of the QHSE policies. Preparing and conducting internal ISM audits, including managing the reports and follow up the corrective action process.

  • The registration and management of QHSE relevant data and files.

  • Executing resolutions of the management regarding formulated QHSE aims and objectives.

  • Instructing new personnel regarding the procedures and content of the SMS and QHSE manual.

  • Maintaining contacts with QHSE related authorities (PSC and flag state) and official bodies, like class society,

  • Preparing reports and statistics for management regarding QHSE (reporting and occurred events).

  • Motivating and stimulating QHSE awareness within the company.

  • Sharing feedback as result of the management SMS and QHSE manual review.

  • Maintaining contacts with Charterer regarding QHSE related topics and processes.

  • Responsible for the reviewing of navigational practices and procedures.

  • Participating in client driven (project) meetings.

  • Supporting vessel crew during external audits and inspections.

  • Monitoring, implementing, and sharing developments in rules and regulations to ensure that the company will comply with relevant QHSE requirements.

  • Participating in staff / office meeting (s).

  • Any other required task in line with the position or part of organization.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience with maritime SMS and QHSE standards in general.

  • Knowledge of the IMO, ISM-code and QHSE standards.

  • Good interpersonal & influencing skills.

  • Fluency in reading, writing, understanding, and speaking English working language.

  • Proficient in computer skills

  • Good organizational skills
