Scientist I - Flow Cytometric Assays
Onsite in South San Francisco, CA
1 year initial contract
Hourly Pay Rate: $40-43/hr (medical benefits available at a cost)
Orion Group is seeking a highly motivated Scientist to work with our global pharmaceutical client in South San Francisco, CA. This Scientist will support the development and implementation of single cell-based flow cytometric (FCM) assays that enable development of novel therapies from the bench to the clinic. The desired candidate will work in a highly collaborative environment to develop pharmacodynamic assays that support internal decision making for preclinical studies and Ph1 clinical trials.
In this laboratory role, the ideal candidate will perform hands-on assay development and will execute established assays to support candidate therapeutic modalities. The work encompasses immunophenotyping in varying matrices and optimizing FCM assays for fit-for-purpose use. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in biology, immune-oncology, immunology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or cancer biology and will be supervised by an established subject matter expert.
Key Responsibilities:
* Work as part of a highly collaborative interdisciplinary team in an integrated early drug development laboratory.
* Work with different bioanalytical matrices to support FCM assay development.
* Conduct laboratory experiments to characterize and optimize flow cytometric assays.
* Execute existing pharmacodynamic assays using established SOPs to support early stage immune-oncology and immunology R&D projects in a detail-oriented approach.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education with typically 2-3 years of experience, or Master's Degree or equivalent education with typically 1-2 years of experience
* Experience with mammalian cell culture and/or isolating primary cells.
* Strong communication skills - verbal, written, and scientific data presentation.
* Ability to multitask and highly attentive to detail.
* Ability to learn, understand, and execute new scientific techniques.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, including excel and word; ability to learn new software applications.
Preferred:
* Strongly preference towards candidate with 2+ years of flow cytometry experience; experience with various BD instruments (i.e. Fortessa, Symphony) is highly desirable.
* Experienced with various flow cytometric analysis software including DIVA, FlowJo, FCS express, and GraphPad is highly desirable.
