Scientist II - LC/MS
Onsite in Lake County, IL
6+ month initial contract
Hourly Pay Rate: $43-46/hr (medical benefits available at a cost)
Our client's Quantitative, Translational and ADME Sciences Department in North Chicago, IL is seeking an experienced scientist (II) to conduct routine, medium to high volume in vivo biological sample processing for quantitative Liquid Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry bioanalysis.
The candidate should understand the rationale and business needs behind sample preparation for bioanalysis and mentor Junior staff to understand same. The selected candidate will be expected to quickly learn to perform high throughput sample extractions using our processes independently.
Automated liquid handling platforms and conventional manual single and multi-channel pipettes will be used. Prior laboratory experience with robotic liquid handlers such as Hamilton platforms or Tecan printing units, knowledge of protein precipitation, liquid/liquid, or solid phase extraction techniques is required.
Key Responsibilities Include:
· Independently process samples from various bio-matrices (biological fluids and tissues) for bioanalysis.
· Timely and accurately operate multiple robotic liquid handling decks, following extraction protocols in LIMS system, and troubleshoot if needed.
· Collaborate with team members including Bioanalytical scientists to ensure seamless and timely execution of in vivo small or large molecule quantitation.
· Maintain excellent documentation of all work including electronic notebooks and protocols
· Work closely with multiple teams across Discovery and QTAS to support ADME Sciences and biomarker sample preparation for bioanalysis.
Qualifications:
· B.S or M.S. in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related field and 3+ (B.S.) or 1+ (M. S.) years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
· Previous experience with operating and troubleshooting high-throughput liquid handling robotic platforms such as Hamilton, Beckman and/or Tecan is required.
· Experience with process development or optimization (may include automating).
· Knowledge of protein precipitation, liquid/liquid extraction, and solid phase extraction.
· Technical aptitude with strong attention to detail.
· Ability to follow protocols accurately and precisely, maintain excellent documentation of all work including electronic lab notebooks.
· Highly motivated individual with a proven ability to work cross functionally. Ability to work well in a collaborative fast-paced team environment, committed to generating high-quality results within tight deadlines and across different projects.
· Passion for problem solving and applying new technologies to further scientific goals.
· Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
